A51 XGS-190 LED Durban Poison Grow from seed to Harvest. First Grow Ever.

What's up people. Growing from Supreme Seeds Feminized Durban Poison seeds. I've already germinated the seeds and am a week + into the grow. I have a mylar lined grow room I built it's 3'x4'x4' high or so and I'm going to scrog it. I'm using local Ladybug Vortex soil and later I will add Fox Farms trio and solubles nutes.

4" inline fan/carbon filter exiting
6" inline fan entering
6" clip on fan
xgs 190 LED Area 51 from seed to bud

As it is my first grow ever I hope some peeps out there help me out when I need it. I may try mainlining these ladies also.

Hell yeah my man, thanks for going all in on this one with me. Hope I can keep it interesting. I'll post more when I get a few nodes to speak of at least. I plan on mainlining too, so it'll be a journey for us all!

Looks good but u better raise that led to avoid bleaching. Looks like your off to a good start though.

Yeah I've been thinking about that, 2680, right now it's only 15" above the tops of the plants. I'll raise it tomorrow when I get a chance back up to about 25". Thanks, glad you're here.

I did 30" at first with clones one 60W mode for two days, 30" on 130 for about 7 days then 190 for about 3 then 20" now. I would say you might want to raise up to about 30" or so for a bit and as they start to develop slowly lower the light and by the time yous plants are mature and ready should probably then be around the 20-25" mark. LEDs get the best spread a little higher. It's not like HID where you try to lower the lamp to get more. You just try to find the sweet spot which isn't right above the plant. Take a look at their PAR readings and go along that.

Could also use this info to help ya out a little. Could try that, start mid, go towards max and if you can get closer without damage overtime go for it as long as you aren't robbing your area of light with only a fine line focused to produce.

Seedlings need 200-400 Umol'/s, vegging plants need 300-500 Umol'/s and flowering plants need 500-800 Umol'/s in its core area and 150+ on the edges. Anything more than 800-1000 Umol'/s is not necessary as it will not add to yield, size, density or potency. Some plants will show signs of damage even at some levels below 800 Umol'/s.

If you have a 6" inline for an intake fan and a 4" inline pulling thru a carbon filter as your exhaust you will have a noticeable smell leak, its a small area so loose the intake fan and use a passive intake

Good info, I brought it back up to 30" today when I had the chance. I had read the same info on area51's website. I feel more comfortable with the light at 30". I've been using it at 130w now for a few days.

Jbone, thanks for being here and checking it out- I wish I could do the passive air intake but the problem was that it's just not a perfectly airtight space so even with the 4" exhaust fan going, the box gets hot as shit. It was pulling air from the box but nothing new was coming in. Temperature was at 85 this afternoon. So I'm just hooking up the 6" fan these next few days mostly to draw fresh air into this space, and to cool it down. I think this will help a lot, as these ladies need some fresh air in the space, I'm a bit worried they're not getting new air.

from stuff I've read, Durban Poison likes heat so I'm less worried about the heat but the fresh air is a concern.

You need to address your exhaust if thats the case, a 4" inline pulls plenty to keep that area cool, especially using led, whats the ambient temp of the room the tents in? Are you ducting out of the room or just out of the tent and into the same room? How long is your ducting? How is your exhaust set up?

Yeah, i know, I'm on top of it. Once I get the 6" going it will be all good. It's in my garage, so it can get cool and hot, basically, but late winter into early summer is very stable and temps in the garage wander from about 63 F to 85 F.

The ducting into the grow area is 6" aluminum and is probably about 15 feet in length. It is connected to a vent to the outside of my house via a 12 x 8 duct reducer and loads of strong duct tape basically, and to the room via a 6" hole cut into the wall
of the room. It is nicely attached to the ceiling and there are no hard turns or right angles anywhere. I will cut this and install the inline fan pulling air from outside. I'll do I as soon as the knuckleheads I order it from send me the correct power cable for it.

the exhaust is a Ventech 4" fan pulling through a carbon filter. Simple alumininum ducting as well, about 6 feet in length, directly out a different vent to the outside air.

once I get that thing connected I'll run some numbers and see where I stand.

currently in the room it is 82 F, 52% RH. And at night it drops to about 75 F.

Jbone is right, get on that asap.

Exhaust should be bigger/stronger than your intake. Switch those fans. The out fan should be pulling hard enough to make a negative pressure and suck in air from where ever possible(like an intake hole...even with no intake fan.) or any slit or opening that air will come from like a door jam. If you have some kind of intake hole/vent/anything at all...you can run passive intake and should be.

Filter to ducting to 6in fan blowing/sucking out...no smell/heat/ventilation problems.

If your filter is hooked up id pull it out and save it, not much point to use it on seedlings, that will drop ur temp a couple degrees right there and save ur filter some wear n tear. I also use a hepa filter on any air being pushed into my tent, keeps bugs n all the other dirt n hair n shit in the air from blowing directly on ur plants. A 12x12 hepa ac filter cut into 4 6x6 squares is cheap n easy, the fan will hold it on and its easy to change every couple months.

anyway, good call jbone, yes it is hooked up so i have a little DIY project ahead of me when the outlet plug shows up in the mail for he 6" inline fan. Damn thing came with three wires sticking out of it. They must think everyone's an electrician.

I'll remove the filter, hook up a hepa, and install the inline fan. Once that shits up and going I'll let everyone know what's going on and probably shoot some new pictures as we'll. it's Thursday now, so I'll prob get to that stuff early next week.

Thanks everyone one for all the insight and keeping me informed. You guys all really know your shit, and I really appreciate it.

Well the xgs 190 is all ww. I just copy and pasted that from the a51 site. Wasn't my statement. Could of swore I put quotes around it. But.... I guess not. LOL

With LED, how do you know if the panel is too close? The XGS has 3 different power settings. So a general "this is how far an LED should be" recommendation could be misleading. What signs of stress do you guys look for? It's not as obvious with LED as it would be with high-pressure lighting, right?
