did you cure them last time? for how long? its normal for the plants to get a hay sort of smell and/or lose the smell until its properly cured where it gains it back.

i hang mine for a week in my dry box with a fan going 24/7. when they feel dry to the touch, then i put them in jars, were they sit for about 4 to 6 weeks, they get burped every day. the first 2 weeks, then i slow the burping down. the smell will come back.

Are you trying to say the plant doesnt develop a hay smell and/or lose its smell until it is properly cured? is that what you mean by "stink is genetic"?

last time i did not cure at all!!! just dried than smoked!!! Like i said i am new to this. So fromwhat i am hearing it seems that if i dry them in the dark slowly over 5-7 days with good air flow they still wont really be ready to smoke. i than need to cure them in air tight jars???? and this curing actually brings back the smell???? I will def try curing this time even if it is for 1-2 weeks after drying however long that takes

ANDS ONE THING I DONT UNDERSTAND IS THE BUDS SMELL LIKE HELL ON THE PLANTS BUT ONCE DRIED THAT SMELL SEEMS TO HAVE DISAPPEARED!! The stuff i buy on the street to smoke is always really smelly as hell and sometimes its still pretty moist like sticky like. HOW DO THEY GET THE BUD INTO THAT MOIST BUT DRY STICKY LIKE CONDITION SO SMOOTH ON THE THROAT, LIGHT GREEN COLOUR ETC??? ARE THE BUDS THAT I BUY TO SMOKE ON THE STREETS ALL CURED OR SOMETHING? COS I BUY MIND BLOWING STINKY BUDS WHICH SMOKE BEAUTIFULLY FROM THE STREETS OF LONDON ALL THE TIME HAVE THESE BEEN CURED HENCE THEIR READY TO SMOKE CONDITION??????
I AM REALLY CONFUSED!! ANYWAY I WILL DO THE CURING THING THIS TIME AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS
