Are seeds that are found in bags that I buy doomed to have a high % of males or is it 50/50 chance?

i planted 12 bag seeds once got them all a foot tall. flowered them and i only got 1 femal

Well, it's not quite 50/50.. Naturally you get slightly more females than males, but not a great % more.

The real concern of bagseed is the nature of reproduction. If it's just plain old male-female pollination then it should be a fairly natural distribution BUT if the plants were seeded 'unnaturally' i.e. one was a hermie and pollinated it all then your seeds have a chance to be hermies too.. if it was genetically predisposed to doing so. If it was done out of stress, or intentionally then you could have feminized seeds which will be almost totally female.

Best way to find out is to plant a bunch and see!

Another question kind of along the same topic is, are the seeds i got in the bag from a hermi plant? Or maybe just the grower didnt pull a male out in time?

that would be choice B the grower didnt get the male out, and u never now how many fem youll get 50% is a good rule of thumb tho, cuz say when u grabbed the seeds out u happened to grab more male seeds than fem. for me exactly 50% of my seeds were fem(bagseed). but i heard sum1 on here saying that outta there 15 plants 12 were male, oddball occurance but it happens, so again u nvr really no but 50% is a good estimate, just plant at least 3 and u will most likely get a fem outta the group
