[h=1]Kali Mist, Jack Herer indoor grow[/h]

Started my first grow on Jan. 1. Some of the details:

Starting with 1 of each of the following: Kali Mist femenized, Jack Herer, Pink Plant (free seed), and an unknown bag seed which was very strong (lemony). Long term goal of keeping 1 or 2 strains as a perpetual grow. Personal use only, don't need a factory.

Germ'd in towels, sprouted in trays, transplanted into 1 gal Smart Pots. Veg room is using a 4' HO T5 fixture w/ 8 bulbs available. Have a heat mat in place for the dark times.

Started using Rapid Start rooting last week (at about 7-10 days old) and used a very low dose of FF Big Bloom on Saturday. Using RO water, everything is PH'ing around 6.8.

Will flower under 600W HPS Adust-a-wing (yet to purchase).

2 weeks from seed and they are around 3" tall with lots of growth (no stretching at all). The JH is not the strongest, growing asymterically (seems like it's disfigured), but going to let it continue and see what happens.

I put together a calendar for the KM relative to a perpetual, once a month harvest. Based on an 84 day flowering cycle. The cycle is utilizing Uncle Ben's topping technique, basically vegging for 42 days, topping and using the top as the next clone, vegging the topped plant for another 42 days before sending to flower. This would give me 4 plants total once the cycle is fully underway, two in flower and two in veg. Of course, there are many variables including the 84 day flower timeframe, size of plants with that amount of vegging (my space is roughly 6' tall total, so with pots and lights, lose a couple feet which may prove to be impossible with this strain). Tried to upload a PDF of it for you guys to take a look at but the file size is too big (at 42 kb, seems strange?)

Always open to tips or advice and excited to start process!

Day 24

Topped the Pink Plant on Saturday. The leaves are pretty small, but growth is explosive. Started adding some Grow Big which seems to have helped. The unknown bagseed (LK) has incredible growth, but no stretch at all. I like not having stretch, but concerned I'm doing something causing them to stay low (too much light?) Using T5 and raised the lights to around 6" above the plants. Overall, looking good!

Expirementing with cloning the top of the PP, not looking great so far, but we'll see. Enjoy and as always, comments or advice welcome!PP-Day-24.jpgJH-Day-24.jpgKM-Day-24.jpgLK-Day-24.jpg

Beginning week 2 of flower on the KM. Watered again today, 4 days since my last watering. I'm noticing the leaves droop/curl down within 10 minutes of watering. You can see it in the last set of pictures which were taken after the last watering. Plant seems to be doing fine, but wondering if anyone else has noticed this type of reaction to watering?

Kali Mist, day 56 of 12/12

I ended up having to tie down the top after the stretch due to space issues, which turned out to be a good thing. It evened out the canopy for the lower branches which are looking good as well.

Trich's are starting to cloud up, leaves are starting to yellow. I know this is supposed to keep going for quite awhile, and I plan on letting it continue. Very tempted to start my flush as I'm two weeks from 70 days which per the seed company is a reasonable time. But, alas, I know better and should let this thing continue for awhile longer!

I got serious seeds Kali mist that I will be popping in the next couple of weeks. I have a few questions. Did you keep the light on the KM 6 inches the whole time through veg? what about during flowering how close was the light? Did you top if so how much or were you going for single big Colas? Your last pictures werent labeled which one is KM? Its looking really good

Yes, it is Serious Seeds KM. I kept the light 6" or less all during veg, using high output T5's. Flower is 600W HPS and is around 10"-12" away with a circulation fan on when the light is on to keep the heat down. All of the last pics are the KM.

I put it into flower when it was aroun 12"-14" tall. She stretched bigtime and didn't slow down until 36". I was worried so pulled the top down (my HPS was as high as it could go, didn't really have a choice), which in hindsight worked great. Basically leveled out the canopy and exposed all of the lower branches.

Looking great! You have quite a lot of colas! Have you been tempted to do a little pre-harvest testing on one your branches?

I have and I did, a few weeks ago. Removed the two lowest branches which weren't really producing much. This was a VERY early test. Taste wasn't great of course, but the high was a good sign of what's to come!

What I'm seeing now is the lower branches are further along than the main cola, the pistils are starting to turn, the trich's seem to be cloudy (still trying to master the microscope thing). The problem with partial harvesting is relative to the flush, meaning if you harvest as it matures over a month, you're not adding flower nutes if your flushing the entire time.

That's interesting. In regards to maturing it looks like my plant is the opposite to yours since my top cola is maturing fastest. I lowest branches still have nearly all white pistils where the higher up branches have much more red retracted pistils. I cut off a smaller branch today to do some testing. I know that it is early since I am only at week six but I really want to have a properly dried bud from my KM ready for 4/20. :) Good news is that the small bud I cut and trim smells wonderful and is very sticky. It obviously isn't flushed properly but I only use a vaporizer so it shouldn't be too big of a deal.

How long you thinking about letting her run mick? She sure is filling out.

And how is the smell?

I've never grown Kali Mist before but have seedlings coming up now (planted all 11),
need to get that journal going. lol

Save me a seat for the chop...

I actually ended up chopping on Saturday. In hindsight, I think it was too early and next time would let it go. The trichs were mostly cloudy and I hadn't seen any significant growth for a week or two, so went for it.

A lot of it is pretty fluffy, and the current smell is very green, like cut grass. Hoping a solid cure will take care of that. Jarred up some of the lower branches that dried faster with the larger buds still drying. Probably jar them up on Saturday. Expecting around 3 zips. Smoked some from a branch removed 2 weeks ago...great high but not long lasting. Hoping it is immarturity/lack of full cure and not indicative of the entire harvest or premature harvest! We'll see!
