You are probably right. However if one had more than a .22, a center hit on the armor would have winded the guy, even if he was in commando-grade shape. But he scored a major tactical point by immersing himself in what amounted to melée. No lack of human shielding. Walter Mitty fantasies are tempting, but tend not to play out that way.
That admitted, i feel certain that had someone with some training been carrying concealed in the theater, the story would have been shorter and with a lower killed/wounded count. Jmo. cn

Not at all, cops do it all day every day as do i.
Something like this would work, and it even carries an extra magazine.
I use one similar to this. I do not prefer to carry it on my hip.
If you put just a thin button up over it, it's perfectly concealed.
Both these can carry up to 5.5 inch barrel with your tac/laser sight on the weapon. and an extra pocket for an extra mag.

What caught my eye was the laser module attached to the gun. The holsters you show here are for ordinarily-sighted guns. I have no qualms about those.
<add> I re-examined the pic. The laser module extends most of an inch below the trigger guard. It makes the gun almost rectangular, and it wouldn't fit in the pictured holsters. cn

No, these holsters are designed to receive the weapon with the laser/tac light mounted on the gun.
