Set up

I'm going to use a tent 48" 48" 70" i plan on using a 400 mh/hps light and a 600 or 1000 mh/hps light I was wondering what size exhaust should I use and if I should use an intake fan and if so what size should I use ... I will also b using a carbon filter

Start with a single 400 and 6inch inline fan around 300 to 400 cfm upgrade as you learn more.
Then get a 1000w hps and flower with it and veg, mothers with the 400

Thanks for the help..... How long do u think I should wait before I should cut the mother plant to begin the cloning process

i agree with full of purple, but personally id forget about the 1000 (unless u have a/c available just for the heat) n stick with the 600hps for flower and 400mh for mothers n clones.. 6" inline fan(400-450cfm) it'll probably be kinda noisy so id also get a speed controller to help with the noise! id give potential mothers a month at least(soil) or just a cpl weeks(hydro) to see if one grows more vigorously or has better traits then the other..i dont think you NEED an intake fan if ur tent has the passive intake vents, which most if not all do have.. BUT im sure a 6" duct booster fan would suffice if u WANT active intake(my preference).. JMO

thanks that really I helped I appreciate it

I plan on using a dwc system probably with 2 18 gal res or 3 if they can fit..... How many plants do u think would b a good amount to grow in that size tent
from experience bro..thats alot of water to deal with and its a pain in the ass to be honest, especially if u clean ur rez regularly. ill never do it again.. but if ur dead set on goin that route i wouldnt do more then 4 in each tote(depending on how long u veg) in 3.75"-6" net pots... the weight of ur medium(i assume hydroton but correct me if im wrong) is gonna weigh down the center of the lid..and with the amt of water in ur totes the sides r gonna bulge as well so zip tie ur lid and walls together atleast twice on each longer side lip to keep ur lid from poppin off unexpectedly and creating more of a headache.

lol I'm actually dealing wit the sides opening now on the grow that I'm doing now lol... And I was gonna use hydroton to.... U think smaller totes or soil would b best???

how many plants do u have? id use 5 gallon bucket DWC if u only have a few.. put em all in seperate buckets. it might require more air pumps n stones tho depending on how many buckets u need and how many pumps/stones u already have.. 1 dual outlet pump will run 2 buckets with a 6"airstone bar in each. make sure to rinse ur hydroton til the water runs clear so u dont wind up with murky reddish brown water in ur res... ebb and flow (or flood n drain) hydro works great with numerous plants(thats y i keep mentioning it). its easy to setup and maintain and it will work with some of the components u already have(hydroton, net pots n air pump/stones) but u will need a few more items.. look up mr.green on youtube.. perfect tutorial IMO.. seems like im tryin to get u away from dwc but thats not the case.. i just dont think the tote method is the best way to go about it. its your grow man and do as u please.. just offering a little insight from previous experience.. hope it helps

im growing 4 plants now in 2 totes 2 plants and I have 2 air stones in each tote i got a pump right now that allows me to use 4 airstones... I was thinking bout using the ebb and flow system first but i heard the dwc is the easiest and i wanted to get the basics down pack... Would you say the ebb and flow is easier then the DWC and will it yield more and better buds??? I appreciate the time you are taking spreading the knowledge that you have because some people come on here to be smart asses rather then give help... Also do you think Advanced Nutes sensi perfect ph is a good nute to use because the nute i was using before advanced nutes didnt work for me so im trying to see which nutes would be best

youre welcome bro, just wanna see another man succeed with the most beautiful plants on earth..As far as the nutes go.. i have no experience with AN.. im a cheap ass and usually just get the cheap ole starter kits like technaflora and my hydro shop gave me a hollands secret starter kit as well so i havent really ventured into the land of nutes. ive read that the ph perfect is an advertising scheme and the ph still needed adjusting from time to time. one thing i have found is that if u wanna try different nutes, contact the manufacturer by email and ask for samples of grow n bloom or any other product they make.. botanicare sent me 5 250ml bottles of their grow and bloom and also a pure blend i think it was but havent used em yet.. and a cpl other companies sent me some samples as well.. worth the emails for sure

Back to DWC.. in terms of setup and operation, dwc is the easiest and i applaud you for startin off simple before going gung hoe. in terms of maintenance it can be a headache, especialy with multiple res's or in ur case the tote method. i had 2 totes to clean every 2 weeks and even more often durring the flush phase. i had to dump my totes by hand so lifting and carrying(or dragging lol) was a bitch.. the upside to that was the ph didnt really swing after the initial rise from 5.3 to 5.8..and topping up with nutes or ph'd water was easy as well... with ebb n flow u have one rez to clean for say 12 plants instead of 3 to clean for the same number of plants.. ive read and found out for myself that alot of time spent in one area of the grow can cause laziness in other areas. as far as yield and quality thats dependant on how well you read and take care of ur garden.. a certain method of growing doesnt yeild more/better buds..even with the most sophisticated setup u can still grow shit plants.. opposite to that ive seen on here people growing top notch buds with a simple 5 gal dwc bucket.. so thats all dependent on you bro..
