I think it was made to have EXTREMELY high physical rewards as procreation is important to the species. However without actual withdrawal symptomatology I do not believe it meets the classic definition of addiction. I know the newer DSM's have this added in but I just can't get my old mind around that re-definition. Frankly I think we love it but there's no negative aspect as long as you have a somewhat developed conscience (ie you have some limits on what you screw). LOL

If you don't I think we are in an another DSM category all together LOL. You guys come up with interesting stuff ;)

Yes porn is very addictive my oldest son is addicted he is quite simply a pain in the ass because of it! He falls out with his girlfriend over it and when he comes to my house ( thank god he doesn't live with me ) I have to hide my laptop, and my youngest sons ipad. Before my son got an ipad he had a laptop and spent hundreds of pounds getting the viruses taken off it because of the porn sites, he got rid of it in the end. He will sit on the computer for hours looking at it and make no secret of it, I mean for gods sake how much porn can you watch in a day its a wonder he hasn't gone blind. My both sons work together and the youngest one who lives at home says he talks about it all day and it drives him nuts he's had to tell him to shut up talking about it all the time. He's 27yrs old and been with his girlfriend for seven years so its not like he's not getting any I think he needs help.:roll:

This is precisely the facies of the dx that bothers me. Frankly I would think this sounds far more like an anxiety disorder he's attempting to self-medicate with a compulsive behavior. I am so sorry this has to be horrific for you. Could you get him to smoke more pot? Maybe eat a little to get to a more steady state of lowered anxiety?

I agree he needs help and frankly I think the mis-diagnosis is missing his real issue, poor guy. Oh granny weed we'd rather take a bullet than see our kids hurt. I am sorry.
