Rules of Debate/Civility

Yeah I would go with A2 B2 too, but its hard to not lash out sometimes, some of these people say really nasty things. I struggle everyday with it here, I don't always get it right and it makes me feel worse than the person I am insulting. Also there is a difference between banter and downright nastiness. Maybe it's a maturity thing, I don't know.

That's good to know. I just don't like Englishmen:razz:

Sorry, couldn't resist.
How can you not like Englishmen some of them are true gentlemen, they work hard, and their accent is wonderful. However some are crack heads , thieves, don't work, and don't even know what a gentlemen is, pretty much like all over the world really. Oh and their aren't many Englishmen left in this country we are fast becoming over taken!

Serious question:

A) When is it acceptable to use Homophobic slurs ?

a1) When I think it's warranted.
a2) Never.
a3) _________________________.

B) If I do use them in a debate, where does that place me in that interaction ?

b1) Morally ahead.
b2) Morally behind
b3) _________________________.

a3) This is not that simple ;) Essentially you have to know the rules of the debate you are in, they can be extremely specific. Depending on the side you are assigned you may have to say things you do not personally agree with, or believe in.

b3) It depends on the scoring setup. Usually one loses points for an ad hominem attack.
