    Alternative to pH Up

Get KOH flakes from essential depot on amazon. I rarely need pH up, but I always have KOH flakes for when I do need it.

    Alternative to pH Up

It's because sodium bicarbonate adds sodium and isn't as effective as potassium hydroxide. A better question would be why purposefully buy the wrong ingredients?

    Alternative to pH Up

Don't use baking soda... Use potassium hydroxide.

I'd use either nitric acid, sulfuric acid, or phosphoric acid, but since you're in soil, I wouldn't use pH down at all. I'd just add some peat to my soil to make it more acidic.

Too much vs Too little light

For 2-3 foot flowering plants after strech: I'm thinking 10W/sqft is too low and 20W/sqft is too high. (PAR) Best value between gpw and g/sqft is probably around 16W/sqft.

    Thinking about T5.

I'd just ask the LED section before buying something because there's so much worthless crap on the market. It's hard to make the same mistake with CMH. Obviously 400W HPS is a good option too.

    Thinking about T5.

I'd just use the 400W MH for now and save up for a decent LED setup. (one that's 50% or more efficiency) or CMH. T5 are expensive and obsolete.

    Favorit Heatsink (maybe f. alibaba)

It's been a few years, but I always design passive. I don't want the extra wires, and fans are moving parts that can cause problems. I love heatsinkusa.com but those pin sinks from alibaba do look great.

    Done with mirrors

Seriously though, if you're going to remove the glass from mirrors, isn't the lining just aluminum foil? So can we conclude that affixing aluminum foil to the walls shiny side out is actually the pro'est method there is?

    Question about Calcium Nitrate

This is what I used to do before I started making A+B stocks. I had stock solutions for each salt so I could use a syringe instead of a scale. (much faster)

Fighting spider mites for over a year!!!

Hotshot no pest strips. Nuke the living shit out of the room between grows. (i'd also consider putting it with veg only)

1000W HPS Bulb with lowest heat output

Even if you have a 1000W 100% efficient lamp, it's still going to put 1000W of heat into your system. The light doesn't just disappear. It's essentially radiant heat.

1000W HPS Bulb with lowest heat output

A 1000W lamp is going to put out 1000W of heat.

    T5 or LED for seedlings?

The thing about that is they'd be right. 500ppm is at the lower end of adequate while 250ppm is deficient. This is true for ALL stages of growth, including seedlings. 250ppm is borderline starvation, even with a 0.5 scale. Try starting your plants at what you consider full strength and you...

    Led light bulbs fix?

Write it off as a loss and do some research in the LED section BEFORE buying a new one. Either that or use HPS. I wonder if there's anything worth salvaging in that unit. Probably shitty drivers with a shitty heatsink.

can you go over board with your lighting

CFL grows are always garbage. Why is it encouraged? What a waste of time and effort. This whole section should be closed.

    T5 or LED for seedlings?

This is by far the #1 mistake on RIU. Even a lot of the more experienced growers here will advise noobs to starve seedlings. Maybe it's because they don't want to see noobs doing better than them on the first try.

    T5 or LED for seedlings?

    T5 is obsolete.
