Cool. I added a couple more sticky traps, 1 for each plant, sprayed a bunch of neem oil over the top of the medium, mostly on the hydroton but should be enough to keep them from trying to get to the soil.
Thanks again!
It seems to me long term the best method would be to put a layer on top of the soil that prevents eggs being laid. I'm looking at some Diatomaceous Earth, maybe Mosquito Dunks or just some perlite. I do fairly well to keep my top layer of soil dry & don't overwater but no matter that the top...
My understanding is that if I prevent them from laying eggs in the soil they'll eventually go away. Do Vapor strips work any better than just the sticky traps?
I got a few sticky traps in there & after a couple days caught 5-10 of them. They look like gnats for sure. I've also sprayed neam oil a few times & it's seemed to help in that there seems to be no adverse effect from the gnats on the plants BUT I know I have to hit this problem hard ASAP...
I've even considered something like the BioWave: http://www.greenstategardener.com/biowave-subsonic-harmonic-emitter-dl-9200?gclid=CLfW4vql8tECFdRyfgodNAkCYA
Except for paying $1800. I might be able to build something myself or I've even heard that those ultrasound cleaning devices will keep...
My tent is outside on my back porch though. It's been pretty cold here in Nor Cal up until this point so no bugs at all. My only thought is that the bugs got in via the small opening between where the 2 bottom zippers come together & that if they were to get there & the fan was running it'd sort...
I just recently installed a 4" inline fan with a carbon filter to pull hot air from the top of my tent. I've opened small screened windows on the bottom of my tent to pull air in from there & the fan only runs when the temperature goes above 79F+. Now that my tent is pulling in external air, I...
I've got this 1 bubba kush pre98 that other than this is doing fantastic. I might have given it a bit more nitrogen than usual but no other changes really. It's just the 1 side of the plant which makes me think it's environmental. It's near the hedumidifier but the side having issues is next to...
Also with my current setup if it gets too hot during the day the fan kicks on bringing in outside air & pulling hot air from the top of the tent through a filter. Sadly it's all I could manage on my budget as a AC unit would've been better to keep the co2 from my exhale bag in there.
My logic...
I had a mild nitrigen deficiency before I started feeding nutrients, I was letting them use up what was in the soil first but other than that I haven't had any problems.
Prior to getting the dehumidifier as I realized my humidity was super high I watched for PM like a hawk, sprayed them with...
Good point about the clear tubing, I'll switch it to black tomorrow :)
As for the watering I think these devices will do ok, although I'll probably water by hand here & there for flushing etc. They seem to do a good job at saturating the soil & letting it dry out enough with my current...
Here's a short video. http://siforek.com/2x4magic.mp4 I have a live webcam on them too. 4 plants, just enough LEDs. Got the 30 pint dehumidifier, a space heater, fans all hooked to sensors keeping it mid 70s F & RH. Also about to run these auto watering gadgets I got a pic of when I was testing...
I'm using my mars 300 in flower. Should be fine. For 4x4 Maybe try just 1 600. Or honestly if I were you & have the $/space, I'd throw those 2 300s in a 2x4 for veg & build/buy a COB light setup for your 4x4 for flower. Last I checked good 5 cob lights would run about 500-600, but even 2 600s at...
Yeah you could do that but that I'd just try another 300 for now. If you can buy 2 600s & another 300 I'd think you might be better off building a COB setup with that $.
