Yes, we used the setup as it comes except we're using a 400w multispectrum HID lamp instead of cfl.. The only other thing is cover the res with aluminum tape which will kill light and algae and lower the water temp making it impossible for algae to grow! The only other difference is we're using all fox farm nutrients.. Give it a shot man! As you can see it works! :p.

Happy growing!

Do yourself a BIG favor and just research what SH is going to send you for their kit and buy it yourself. It's basically:

8 gallon tote
20gph water pump
5 watt air pump
10ft airline tubing
irrigation hub
6 netpots
1 airstone
6 1" rockwool cubes
some cheap ass crap powdered nutes.
PH up and down

They charge you around $100 for that stuff. You can buy it all yourself online for much cheaper and you won't have to deal with SH's incredibly crappy customer service. I bought my kit from them and lots of the shit I ordered was missing. Dealing with them is a hassle. Even after they sent my second shipment which should of had all the missing components from the first shipment, I was still missing the light bulb for the 400hps lighting system I got through them. Got tired of calling so I had to spend 50 bucks elsewhere to buy a bulb that should have been included in my package.

Youre probably very right! you can save alot of money and time buying the stuff yourself and building it! My friend and i just got this spare res off of someone we know who had it laying around... best 0$ we ever spent ;) lmfao! :joint:

Yes this is all you need. And some kinda drill to drill the holes! ;)

it seems too simple cuz it is!! :p

this brings me to ask about lighting. what sort of light should i use to veg.? and will i need another one once it starts budding?

how hard is it to grow clones? and if i decide to go with clones does it cut down on the veg. time?

sorry bout all the questions, id just rather do it right the first time around

all this information has been posted tons of times in other sections of this site but i'll help you..

1. you need blue spectrum for veg. and red spectrum to flower.. Blue is Metal Halide, Red is High Pressure Sodium.. or you can buy a multispectrum bulb that has both spectrums in one bulb..

2.Yes clones are easy and take about a month less time, but you need a seperate vegging room if you plan to keep cloning anytime you want.. the only thing you need to clone is humidity domes and rooting hormone you can get it anywhere even home depot.. you literally take a cutting and dip it in the hormone then plant it and keep it moist til it roots...

3.try to keep the questions to a minimum or send me a private message i'll be happy to answer there but this thread is for journaling my grow, not answering a whole bunch questions. :joint:

Sorry its been so long since an update.. we only have on big ass plant now and we're milking her for all she's worth!

Trust me. Don't buy Stealth Hydro. It's a total rip off and a lousy system to boot. Unfortunately I learned the hard way. With $.

Actually not recommended to dip the cutting in the actual container if hormone gel due to contamination. But if you were shooting for a journal why not post In the journal section? Ha!
But anywho great job keep it up and I agree with the do it yourself system instead of a purchase :blsmoke:

question... did you happen to do some LSTing on them plants or anything else maybe?

only very little by bending the stem in the beginning but i just tied some of the branches up so the canopy is even so in a way yes im LST'ing them but not hardcore cuz its already a big plant

i never said to dip it in the container.. and i would never have done that.. ideally you just take some rooting hormone out and put it in something else... im not "shooting" for a journal.. so thats why its not in the journal section.. this guy just tried to hijack my thread and i had to let him know thats not what happens in my thread.. if you dont like that tough chit mane!.. :D
