400watt HPS - 4x4x7 Tent - 6 x Blackberry Kush -

Hello all, first post here!

So I am testing out this new grow tent, and figured the best way to stay organized about this one is to create an ongoing grow journal. This grow is blackberry kush clones from a collective near by.

This tent setup includes the following:

(1) 4x4x7 light-tight grow tent with reflective material
(1) 400w HPS lighting system
(1) carbon filter
(1) 175 cfm exhaust fan
(2) 8" oscillating clip-on fans
(1) Remote temperature sensor
(1) Live video monitoring from console and cell phone
(2) power supply strips on 2 different circuits.
(1) 8,000 BTU portable air conditioner
(6) 5gallon HD buckets
(6) blackberry kush clones from local collective

Currently here in Socal the temps are around 95+ outdoors, and the grow is on an east facing walls, which is causing the temps to get rather high early in the day. To handle this issue I have brought in the 8,000 BTU portable air conditioner.

I am using a 400watt HPS system with a standard batwing reflector. It causes some heat issues when the outdoor temps are rather high.

Here are some pictures of what's going on right now.

Very nice setup, will keep my eye on this one. I have been thinking about dumping my self build cab for a nice grow tent.

I just got done setting up a remote video system so that I can monitor the entire grow live from a console set up next to the grow tent, or live from my RIM Blackberry. Being able to keep a close eye on things at all times is definately awesome.

I also improved the air conditioning in the tent, and am reseting the temperatures so I will have a fresh start to record the upcoming daily highs and lows.

nice setup and lovin the video monitorin .... u dont see that in many grow rooms ... do u see any benefit in havin a ac in your grow room because im thinkin of gettin one.... as i cant get the tempretures below 90 in my room .... due to me being in a top floor apartment gettin everyone elses heat

Oh yeah, my temps would be 100+ running the light with no AC. I got a 8000btu ac and it keeps temps in the low 70s. I just change the AC water bucket every day or two.

I too am on the 2nd floor unit and have a east facing wall that pulls the sunlight about 10 hours a day.

I will be picking up a cool tube this weekend that (hopefully) will get rid of my temp problem.

Nice tent man. A live feed that's just crazy, I would never get any work done.:weed:
Seriously... you're right-- it is a distraction, but knowing exactly whats going on in the grow room while i'm not at home brings us much happiness.

Being able to watch things happen from a far allows me to leave home once in a while... My wife and I are the types of people that wouldn't leave the grow if it were for our ability to remotely monitor it.

just wait 'til we purchase our condo... thats when we're really going to kick it up a notch with remote controlling things, monitoring, etc. Perhaps we'll be even able to manage an entire grow without ever entering the grow room to water, feed, etc.

remote watering, and feeding would be simple to set up using high power water pumps, enough quarter-inch line, a distribution tube, and a closet we can house the nutrient reservoirs, and water reservoirs in.

being able to fully automate mother nature in the form of a 24/7 unmanned grow setup would be very satisfying for us, and definitely worth the funds, and setup time involved.

thanks for the kind words... keep comin' back and checking on these beauties :)

just installed the cool tube... temps are around 86.5 degrees stable with the AC off... 69-72 with the AC on. I will continue to update this over tonight. temperatures normally stay around 99-105 in the tent without the AC on, so this is a decent improvement. also, the light is about 10 inches from the tops now...

check out the live feed on the first page if you want to see...

i was able to obtain the cool tube for about $50.00usd.

Yo, GrowTech, I was looking into doing a similar setup as yours, and I was wondering how you had your cooltube/fan/filter setup. It looks like it is setup with the cooltube -exhaust fan-ducting-filter? does that work?
