A question about harvest time.

So I got this unknown sativa strain that come from some pretty good bag seed. It's 9 1/2 weeks into flower, about 5-10% trichomes are amber, and about the same % clear. The fan leaves all the way up the plant are turning yellow, and 80-85% of the pistils are still white/yellow. Anyhow, my question is, "should I harvest"? I was always told to wait until at least half the pistils have turned orange/brown. But the trichomes and leaves tell me different.

Any advice or knowledge would be great. I don't want to chop too early/late. Is it normal for all fan leaves to start turning yellow before the end, and why would I have a few amber trichomes and almost all pistils be white?

Sativas in most cases will take longer than indicas to mature. Yes it is normal for the leaves to start to yellow and die off. This is a sign that all her energy is going to pistil production. As in all of nature she wants to get pregnant. As far as when too harvest, go by the trichomes not the pistils. I have seen plants growing new pistils but have 90% amber triches. Here is a helpful pic for you ....Best of luck!View attachment 1979984

So u I think I should let her get to 10 weeks and put her in the dark for 24-48 hrs and chop. Ill post some pics asap. Some of two days ago, and some of today. Because 2 days ago the leaves were still pretty green. Today all fan leaves are drooping and turning yellow. I might have 10% amber as of now.

My last two had 50%+ orange pistils before I started to amber.

All I have atm is my phone at 3MP, and I can't for life of me get a clear trichome shot through my magnifying lense. And yes I have a 30X i got from radio shack.

Depends on the high you are looking to get. If you want the upper high, chop her at 10 weeks. If you want the more stoney feel then let her go another week or two.

Thanks for the advice bkb and jim. I can;t believe the size of buds on this one for only 16-18 inches tall.

As the chart I suggested shows, she can be harvested at anytime at this point. As stated by HonestJim and the chart, it depends on the high you want to get. Personally I don't like to tell people, yes harvest right now. It is a matter of the high you want to acheive and the trichomes and your decision. Keep an eye on the trich's if they start to get brownish the THC is starting to degrade. Thus the quality of the high will lessen. Beautuful budz BTW, Good Job, +rep!!

Plant looks great, and everything bkbbuds said is correct. If you decide to wait a little longer your buds should pack on even more weight as well. They will get dense the last week or two although the high will be more sleepy the longer you wait. As previously mentioned its a matter of personal preference.

Thanks guys ;) This has been pretty much my first indoor grow. My last outdoor wasn't ready by the time temps started to get too low, and finished it inside, and I ended up with 6g dry. I never expected this one to turn out like it did. I'm hoping to get at least a half oz dry.

So I cut one of two very bottom branches with about a 1g bud on it. Let it hang for 12 hrs or so and put it front of a space heater for an hour and smoked it. So far I like the high; I'm pretty stoned after a bowl. Can't wait to try final product. I think I'll let it go another week, and give her the chop.
