do air pumps get louder when they are warm because ive just tried everything to quiet the thing and if i leave it off until its 100% cold its quiet but after 5 minutes running and it worms up a little it starts humming again. im not sure if its my mind playing tricks on me or it its actually humming more

It can get louder, yes. Is the noise a problem?
Feel the pump, is it hot? Warm is OK.
its warm kind of gets hot maybe time to replace it but its only 6 month old but had been on 24/7 but i still dont expect it to be broken just yet
its more annoying then a problem

Well, this way you'll have a spare. How big of a pump are you replacing?
Did you check the air stone/diffuser for good bubble flow?

its rated for 250lt and i use in 10lt so lots of power but the one i will be replacing it will is rated for 120lt but it also has low and high settings. im hopping in low setting ill be less loud

i probably just need to vent my annoyance. i have everything on foam blocks buckets pump. brand new air stones i even put my pump on the out side of my grow cupboards so the sound isnt resonating of the wooden walls and only have the air lines entering i can hear the hum over my 6 inch extract fan. i can close my bed room door and not hear the extract fan yet i still hear the pump humming out side my room plus feel the vibrations in the floor. its really pissing me off . the only thing i can think of is replacing it with a waterfall set up but im waiting for more funds before i can 100% finish my set up and have room for the second rez so until then im stuck with a air pump
maybe i suck at googling stuff but why the hell cant i find a pump that is vibration free and does not use the rubber nipples on the inside that has the little arm that bounces around inside the pump making air is the technology that old and bad still. this shit is just not on. how do fish tank users live with them humming there tits off all day long

Ahhh...so it's a big bugger. Mine's 75L and it's not quiet.
If noise is a real problem, you could always line a box with egg cartons and sit the pump inside on a mat or something.
