Any military vets bringing landrace seeds home from overseas?

Just curious, not looking for any beans for myself, but just wondering if folks who've been stationed in Afghanistan or Iraq have snuck any seeds home with them.

Is it even possible to find something to smoke without getting killed or court-martialed? And if you score any bag seed, can you smuggle it back without getting caught? Or would it not be worth the risk?

I've never been in the military, so no idea if it can even be done. And again, I'm not looking to get any for myself, except through the usual legal seed banks, just trying to get an idea of the general situation. Thanks.

No I was in Baghdad and never seen any of it but we didnt really socialize with the locals. Honestly i dont think in that area cannibas would survive way to dry and sandstorms would rip em to shreds.

the us army learn't much from their south east asian experience

tight brain washing, proper weaponizing

and that great all round character

exists to day in Syria as in Saigon

as for drugs

let them deal with transsexuals first

and vagina's with guns

good luck

Man I have been thinking about this for awhile! I was down in Marjah, and around Helmand providence; saw many plants. Ironically 90% of the buds I saw were located at the ANP (afghan national police) stations. I mean these guys were growing trees!!!! There were a few times that we raided a house and found cannabis plants and poppy plants. Boy that was interesting to burn. Find half an acre, keep a plant for evidence, the rest gets put in the fire. I tried a few times to ask the interpreters to try to get some cannabis seeds for me, but our guys would always get nervous and say no. They were really close to getting their citizenship and didn't want to ruin it, so I can't blame them. I'm still trying to get a few buddies who are officers, and in the Middle East to acquire some. No promises, but i'll dm you if something ever happens.

Back about 1984 or so a friend of mine happened to have a bag of seedy buds that were supposed to have come from the mujahideen in Afghanistan. I sampled it and it kicked my ass thoroughly, so I took about 20 seeds and grew it in my closet.

First crop I got some 25% plants with flowers that were pretty blah in potency, 50 percent plants producing just "OK" buds, and 25 percent from a ruthlessly butt-kicking pheno, which I cloned.

That shit was so strong some people complained it nearly got them killed, because they'd be trying to drive and suddenly realize they didn't know where they were or why they were going there. This was in Texas, and there was nothing like it for sale on the street at that time, just Mexican brick weed.

What I can't figure out is how anyone who grows open-pollinated crops from seed outdoors can sort out the good from the bad after harvest, without smoking a sample from every damn plant. Cuz like I said to another poster, when I grew that Afghan bag seed, I got four or five females, and one of them was weak as hell, one of them was excellent, and the others were just so-so.

But if you've got an acre to harvest, how do you know which plants or flowers to keep for sale and which to turn into compost? The only way I can think of is test-smoking.

Thats why they make hashish out of the general mix

getting flower or buds in the 'stan is difficult

but hash or oil is a breeze

most is grown north of Kabul in a valley I forget he name ...lol

But I learnt about the golden fleece and how it works ...lol

good luck

I would assume experience from the elders being passed down. Most things over there are taught by word of mouth. I'm sure as many generations grew the plant they knew how to pick the best out and breed. I also think that growing is more of a community thing. There is probably a few growers, and they sell in the markets or w/e. The farms that I saw were all much bigger than an acre. 50+ acres, so I don't know how big of a problem separation is. Good question.
