battery backup for lights, help with ups system

cheeze me

So i'm looking for a lighting setup where if there is a power cut i have battery back up for some cfl's to keep lighting in the grow room for an interim period of around 10 secs to 5 mins untill the generator kicks in.

I know I need a ups system, however i do not know much about them and have seen some that still blink the lights when they kick in ie a loss of power for a second or so.

I want a ups system that does not lose the power and the cfs's stay on constantly for the period untill the generator kicks in, in otherwords i want my plants to not realise whats going on.

Would be really greatful if someone with a bit of electrical knowledge could help me out so I can go ahead with this grow once i get all the correct bits.

The battery backup for the small period doesnt have to be huge, i mean just enough cfs's for the plants to not get shocked or anything negative to the yeild or potency.

sorry this might not help you, but it seems you are way too worried about 5 mins.. your plants aren't going to hermie in that short of a time frame. your plants will not know whats going on, if you already have a generator just save your money.

Really? you mean to say a 5 min blackout wont kill my plants?

I mean I could always make sure the lights are on during outside daylight hours so i could just leave the door open to the grow room to let natural light in for the blackouts, so it wouldnt be 100% pitch dark but they wouldnt exactly have direct sunlight.

And 5 min would be max worst case as usually the generator kicks in within 10 secs only takes 5 mins if theres a fault and it manualy needs to be started.

dude it takes about 1 day of dark to fuck up your light cycle and possibly cause hermies, and I would guess 2 or 3 days without light to actually kill them.

My computer runs on a riello ups which is totally seamless. Runs the puter for about 20 minutes if the power goes.
