I have a homemade bubble cloner.I get nervous when its time to clone.My questions concern how to cut the 45 . Where after or on the node do I cut? Which side of the stem ( starting where) do I cut the 45?
How close do you cut off the leaf stem on the node? Is it flush with the stock or stem ? Or do you leave a bit? Where do you scrape the stock for more roots? How long or tall should a clone be ? How thick of a stem makes the best clones? How do I make more roots?

Way too many questions and I'm not sure I understand them all. I really would suggest you tube for a walk through if you don't understand. But I fill try to explain... cut a bottom/mid branch off the stem. Dip it in cloning powder/gel. If using a bubbler keep the cloning solution out of the water. Should be a couple inches above water. Keep light (I use florescent) on 24 hrs for 1-2 weeks. 1 week usually plenty.
Optional additional suggestions
Don't clone from flowering plants.
Flush before cloning
Cut leaf tips off to track new growth
Foliar feed

Never done bubbling as I've always had high success in jiffy pellets. 90percent...

Had 1 friend who bubbled and ended up with a nasty smelly scummy tank from putting clone gel in the solution.

And I never foliar feed. Even after the initial cut. Leave completely alone. Don't even lift the lid for the first week

The 45 degree cut increases the area of the cut, its not 100% needed, most of these steps are not 100% needed they just give the clone the best chance of rooting faster.
Don't over think it, Its nothing to stress about, its easy, especially with a bubbler.
Use clean scissors or blade.
There are hundreds of tutorials on cloning all over the net and youtube

Bubblers FTW. I should also mention less is more when it comes to cloning products. Especially the powders. A tiny dip is better than coating the whole thing. 1 week of bubbling water shouldn't get that nasty think about hydro and dwc. But yes eventually it will get nasty clean ur resivior if going longer than a week

I struggled until I got root riot cubes and clonex gel. Mist the lid twice a day and that was it. Full humidity for a week then started opening the air holes bit by bit to harden off.

The only luck I had before was using peat pots and cutting and seedling soil mix. I put the top half of a bottle on the top for a make shift humidity dome and once roots had come through the bottom I planted straight into soil.

Soil was the easiest of all the methods ive tried.

Jiffy coco pellets for me. 2 weeks. I try to forgot about them once there done. Neglect rather than over loving works for me. That's why we here. Sharing our wins and fails.

Jiffy pellets soaked in a plant start solution clonex gel and a fresh scalpel every time. Had roots in as little as 7 days but my general time frame is 7-10 days, stragglers taking go to 14.

Holy Ball sacks, I just checked the online store, £4 for 40ltr. Wow. Nothing I hate more than carrying a 50ltr sack of canna out of my local hydro store, I don't even like getting it delivered.

No dome, no spraying. Enough water in the tray so it is in contact with the perlite
Zero wilt, 100% success rate. Cant get any simpler than that.

i quit having problems with cuttings once i got rid of the mist and dome, unless you're in a desert its not usually necessary, and especially not if youre using a bubble bucket, that cut will stay plenty hydrated. The cut will take up water thru the stem much better than through the leaves. If all that werent enough adding a dome also creates a stale environment where mold will flourish. Another hurdle i believe comes from calling it "cloning" which evokes thoughts of labs and complicated science, when in reality you are just sticking a branch in dirt or other medium, and besides that its not even truly cloning, a true clone would come from seed modified with the dna of the cloned plant to produce the exact copy of the original. Cutting and rooting would be a better term I think.

Yeah, seems they sell bloody everything.. lol

The water evaporates and is drank up by the stem. So if I put a bit less than an inch of water in I only have to top it up once usually, I don't pour out the older water, just add to it. Once they root then you have to keep an eye on them so they don't drink themselves dry. I think it works well because the stem is wet enough because of the perlite wicking it but also oxygenated enough due to the natural gaps in the perlite.
