Cloning can be tricky, or it can be super easy. My first three tries died within a few days, no life at all. Second try, all four lived, then two died. Third attempt, all four have survived and are thriving. It just takes some practice I guess, along with some luck because I did them all the same way each time. My last try was just sticking the cutting into a cup of water, took about 11 days but I had root growth and put it in soil three days ago. I am now seeing new growth and it looks quite healthy. Practice makes perfect.

well im just wondering if its normal that they kinds seem "dead" the first few days which would be understandable since they dont have much to go off.

they are not dead, just in a real need for more humidity.
cuttings need a lot of humidity as they only get what they need by the pores in the leaves and not from the roots like 'normal' plants.
95-100% humidity is the best for cloning.
you can achive that by putting a clear plastic cup over the cutting. it should form a fog and you should see some water drops on the cup. if so - your successful.

note that you need to let the cutting "breath" a bit. you need to remove the cup once a day for 15 minutes to let air circulate.

good luck :)

I think you might need to dome them... if you're not already.
They should be in a high humidity environment.

Doesn't matter what is man, just something to cover em with. Without going into aero/bubbleponic cloners I've heard of and seen for myself some great results using an HID and two rubbermaid containers for $5 apiece. Take a rooter block of whatever ya want or a small pot, clone, place in container and the other container upside down on top.

Works like a dream. If not enough humidity develops put a small amount of water in the bottom of the container and you should be good to roll. If you're using CFLs and not HIDs make sure the CFL bulbs are directly on top of the container. Rubbermaid has some thicker plastic which is why I prefer it for cloning under HID light, plastic cups just don't diffuse enough.

i simply put my cuttings in peat pellets in small wine plastic cups (for labeling) and put thoes in a clear ice cream plastic container. I open it once\twice a day.
Thats it. no money investment.

you could use anything that is clear.
