Yup, just when you think this World couldn't get more fucked up, it does.

This issue, a direct result of Putin existing, is going to REALLY fuck the entire world, again.

That one motherfucker is going to be responsible for possisbly a million people in Africa/ME starving to death

It's inevitable

Then I read that bread in this country will double in cost by September

Jesus fucking Christ

I thought times were bad under Trump, but the last two years were worse & I didn't think that was possible.

Ah man, I'm so fucking sick of this shit.

And all you growers out there know that once you lose a crop, and in Ukraine's case, the fields are destroyed, your basically fucked for a year.

So doing the math, and the fact that you can't rush nature, it'll be 2 years before they can grow a complete crop & ship the product.

This is going to be a very, very bad.

Million, try 10s to 100s of milions. Russia is the number 1 grain exporter and Ukraine is the number 5 grain exporter. Last fall China outlawed phosphate fertilizer export, put that together with Russia being the number 1 nitrogen and potash exporter. Between losing all the grain export and fertilizer shortages with higher prices for it along with high fuel prices is a bad combo. Throw in some climate change wild fires and you have death on a scale we've never seen before.

Much of the African farm land is marginal and needs modern industrial farming to be productive, that means irrigation, fertilizer and tractors. There are also vast areas of Asia with the same problem, drought and wildfires could make the whole situation much worse.

You & I are thinking the same way ( :( )
This is going to be a tragedy of epic proportions
These last 4 years have been brutal on the Human race, with earthquakes/eruptions/fire & floods & one more attempt to finish us off, CONVID-19 & now a fucking War.
Yes, it been tough & the future looks even more fucking bleak (God works in mysterious ways, doesn't it?)
I just wanna watch my plants grow
I dont need this anymore.

I don't want this last decade to be known in 200 years as the Worst time ever to be alive in the USA/World

Spanish flu/the Great Depression/WW?

I don't think so

Nope, I think we might be on the way to winning that Honor.

Aren't we special!

Russia and Ukraine account for 12% -15% of the worlds calories being exported and the world normally only has 90 or less days reserve of food.
Add in the loss of fertilizers and rise in fuel costs.
Look for Africa to get ugly fast, Egypt imports 80% of it's food.

Putin's goal from the beginning of this was to take control of the majority of the world's wheat supply, which Ukraine added to Russia's exports would give him-he could dictate wheat prices just like the oil cartels do, giving him total control over the middle east, south asia, big chunks of Africa, etc. Americans have the luxury of choosing to be raw vegans or paleo eaters while these people literally survive on bread with enough roadside weeds thrown in to avoid advanced scurvy.

Doing groceries and walked up to an empty mustard section. Only time that happened to me before was with toilet paper at the start of the covid pandemic. Back home I figured I check if this is related to the war in Ukraine. Turns out it is, as it came on top of climate change having messed up the harvests in the Canada last year.

Won’t starve, but it won’t be the last item to become a luxury food.
