first time outdoor

Ive had a few successful indoor crops and decided to try my hand under the sun this season. Ive had minor pest issues indoors but nothing close to ifwhat I'm seeing outside. Grasshoppers are what I'm assuming are doing the damage, a lot of leaf damage. Just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get them to f off my babies before they kill them all!

Depends on what you want to do. If your interested in natural control, try growing some tall grass away from your plants, they would much rather be in tall grass. Spores of the protozoan Nosema locustae are commercially available as a formulation on bran bait (called Semaspore, Nolo-Bait).However this will take the entire season to kill them off.

Also found this:

"Kaolin clay
There is a relatively new control called Kaolin clay. One to two cups (240 to 480 ml) of the powdered clay is mixed with one gallon (3.8 l) of water with about one teaspoon (5 ml) of soap, such as a mild dishwashing soap or Dr. Bronner's soap (from health food stores). To make mixing easier, the Kaolin clay should be slowly added to a cup or two (240 to 480 ml) of water first to make a paste (with the soap), and then added to the rest of the gallon (3.8 l) of water. This mixture should be sprayed onto all leaf surfaces. The object is to have a white film on the leaf that repels the grasshoppers. This may require more than one application, depending on the concentration of clay in the spray."

Other than that, google. :)

That Kaolin clay is very interesting. It is one of the main ingredients in making china/ceramics, medicine, plastics, paper, and a bunch of other stuff. When I was a nurse we gave a prep to patients with loose stools and that product was just named Kaolin. I am thinking it may be similar to diatomaceous earth in some applications. When I had a problem with grasshoppers in my veggie garden I asked an expert at the university and came up with something that worked. Grasshoppers love canola oil. I mixed canola with a pesticide and sprayed the plants around my garden and not in the garden. The canola is the "bait" and the pesticide killed pretty quick = 90% reduction in damage to garden plants. Some grasshoppers won't eat your cannabis and others will chomp on it all day. Catch some of them so you can identify them as to species and thus know exactly what their diets are and then target them with the appropriate arsenal.
