Gerneral consensus on harvesting...wrong?

Fellow growers. What's happening!

So as the title says, is the general consensus on when to harvest....wrong? I'm starting to think so. Here's why.

Since I've bought a microscope I've been checking out all the dankest weeds that get me the highest. Theryre always solid milky trichs. VERY few if any amber, and always a few clears.

Now the consensus seems to be to wait until the plant is showing mostly milky before harvest. Until the plant is mostly colored/receding pistols...

However. I harvested a few branches to test.. upon harvest I had a couple amber and the rest clear. After a 7 day dry in the cannatrol, they are SOLID milky, with a couple Amber's. This means one thing. If properly dried, the trichromes Continue to evolve after harvest. Leading me to believe the general population is harvesting way too late.

Another thing about harvesting. These times (when trichs are still clear) actually line up with breeder reccomendations on when to harvest. I always read and hear the breeder times are way off. People go weeks past them. I'm starting to think the breeders are right. And the general population is wrong.

What say you?

The point is the trichromes Continue to evolve after chop. Witnessed with my own eyes. How do you determine your preferred harvest time?
I look at the plant. I haven't looked at the trichomes in years. The harvest time isn't exact as there is a window that lasts a couple weeks when I like to harvest. I harvest by the overall visual appearance and when it's convenient. When they're ready I have a couple weeks to chop them down. Trichomes are not as accurate as many people think especially with today's high intensity lighting, additives, and things people spray on their plants. I thought I bookmarked the link but I can't find it. I came across a study of the effect of high intensity LED lighting on trichome development. Nothing was conclusive but it was an interesting read. Much of it made sense but further study is needed. If I find the link I'll post it in this thread.

Over time life happens and you end up harvesting early and late and eventually figure out what you prefer. Personally I like it ripe, just like a peach. If you've ever bit into a full ripe peach that feels like a water balloon and explodes with that delectable nectar its hard to eat an under ripe woody peach after that.

IMO, the general consensus these days is to harvest too late. Back 15-20 years ago, growers were mostly harvesting too early, and there was a push to harvest later, but in the recent few years it seems to me that the pendulum has swung too far in the opposite direction, and growers are harvesting past peak. A lot of it is up to personal preference too though. Some people like green bananas, and some like brown bananas. I like mine yellow.
