Grow has been great. No big issues other than feeding them N when they didn't need sh@t. Plants grew out of it and are on their way.

Experimenting with a 1 month Veg cycle. Mostly to get the males out of the way and to take clones so next go I KNOW I have females.

Feel like I should have them in 2gal pots at a minimum but the 1.5gal they are in will have to do. I'd do not have a ton of light so keeping them in smaller containers on a shorter veg cycle should be fine in such a small area.

2 @Maxsisun MF1000'S = 200W
1.5GAL Pots
50/50 Happy Frog/Ocean Forest
Bush Doctor Kelp feed (Never really used)
B.S.M.
5 Plants
1 Month Veg
Flipping to flower day after tomorrow.

Plants: 2 identified females (H-2/H-3), 2 other possible females in pre flower, 1 male (Indica, will keep for breeding) that will be taken out of this grow room and put somewhere to collect pollen for storage once the flower cycle starts.

I normally use a longer veg time but this go I wanted to see if I could match the yield of 1 plant under these lights with 2 months veg against 5/6 plants on a 1 month veg. 1 seedling died and another turned out to be Male. Leaving me with 4 possible fem's. Likely just the 2 knowing my luck.

Here are some pictures of the grow. Enjoy! :blsmoke:

That's about it for now. Couple more days and I'll be into flower cycle. Today is day 29 in veg, day 49 of grow. Will be updooting with pre-flower sex organs as they can be confusing a.f. when they are still small. Gotta have a great loupe or just wait for it to really show itself. The above female looked like it was growing a nut, then it got longer and skinnier at the end, eventually spitting out pistils confirming a female.

Thank you @Maxsisun for the lights! Though I have felt the need to add cpu fans to each unit to reduce the heat of the meanwell driver they are working great for me & were affordable.

The image at the bottom of the above thread is what I believe to be a female preflower. This is how the H-2 above it appeared before pushing the hairs out. Gonna have to wait though because I'm new to this and I wouldn't want to be throwing out any females that I've misidentified.

Plant types are as follows:

2 - Indica (i-1/i-2) f1
3 - Hybrid (H-1/H-2/H-3)

i-1 Still believed to be male

i-2 Appears to be male. Pictured below.
20220108_085857.jpg

H-1 Believed to be Male. Pictured below.
20220108_091642.jpg

H-2 Female
H-3 Female

Kind if a bummer but expected when running regular seeds and one of your 6 seedlings dies. Was REALLY hoping for a female indica. At least I have the Males for breeding. Unsure which one to choose though.

i-1 is a taller guy with medium fat stems and medium/long internodes & is a light feeder, easily harmed by over-nute.

i-2 is short, with shorter internodes, thinner stemming, medium feeder doesn't seem to be as sensitive to nutes as i-1.

H-1 is short with medium internodes, thinner stems & just as finicky with nutes as i-1.

Writing this out makes me feel like i-2 would be the best male to cross with. But I don't know jack about any of this gene selection.

If someone here is well educated in this breeding department & how to choose males, please feel free to comment.

If H-3 is also found definitively male I will be up potting the 2 Females to 3 or 5gal containers.

Current state of roots in 1.5gal pots. Roots have reached the perimeter & bottom of container. Would likely take only 1 month to become root bound from this point.

UPDOOT - SEX ORGANS

Checking on plants organs today and noticed the suspected i-2 Male is now a mystery again. It appears to have grown another sucker in place of the preflower. I'm familiar with male organs but this just doesn't match with what I remember. Is my memory that bad?

Take a look.

UPDOOT - Under Watering Deficiency

H-2 & a couple others had been showing signs of deficiency, likely a calcium/magnesium deficiency. Round rust spots with patchy yellowing.

20220114_072009.jpg

Checked the root system and saw healthy roots but what I did not expect was DRY ASS SOIL top to bottom. So I checked the rest of the plants and I had been under watering them.

Corrected my issue with watering and with latent N held up in the soil when I finally did water appropriately I burned a few leaf tips on 3 different girls. Most of which seems to have stopped and the plants overall are looking A LOT better.

Amazing what a good watering can take care of. I do not recommend watering 5%-10% of container size. I suggest watering ULTRA SLOW until you get just an ounce or 3 of run off and call that good for soil grows. No need to flush nutrients down the drain and no reason to water so little.

A bit of a curve I wasn't expecting to go through but that is what happens when you take advice willy-nilly.

UPDOOT - Transplanting

Up-potting the girls today. Will be going from 1.5gal to 4gal. They need it. I would have used 3gal but these were the only containers I had laying around but I believe they'll do splendidly.

UPDOOT - Plant Sexing

All but one are female.

i-1: Female
i-2: Female
H-1: Female
H-2: Male
H-3: Female

All plants were transplanted up to 4gal containers yesterday. Still showing some nutrient issues. Will wait for 2 days and see if the transplant takes care of those issues.

Plants are growing pretty fast. Did notice that I forgot to top H-1 a week before flip and now those mains are stretching farther than the rest of the growth. Will try to LST as best I can without netting. i-1 seems to be suffering from a potassium deficiency. Looks like magnesium but it is burning the leaf in spots outside of the leaf tips. Which is telling me I may be right about the K deficiency.

Picture below:

20220118_074647.jpg

Will wait and see what happens. Doing less is more sometimes and this time is no different.

Seems a little early for a P or K deficiency, when I see them it's usually a few weeks into flower. What nutrients are you using?

For veg I was using Kelp Me Kelp You. Pretty well been relying on the soil to provide what it needs. Other than that I have fed with BSM at the rate of a tsp/gal once per week to feed the microbes. Had been underwatered so mycorrhizae was replenished and watering increased. Last water before transplant they were fed BSM at a rate of 1tbs/gal. Haven't noticed a difference in health after 36 hours or so.

This inside growing is all new to me. Usually my outside garden tends itself with the compost I make and the chickens poop and all the crops that comes down in the fall. I miss the lazy outdoors.

UPDOOT - Plant Health

Plants are all looking much better after their transplant and a couple light feedings. Wanted to keep it organic in the grow but missing the transplant date cost me and no slow release was gonna fix my deficiency in time. So, I had to break down and buy some liquid nutes from FF. A little PK and some Cal/Mag.

Next go the transplant needs to be done 1 week before flip. For now, girls look happy.

UPDOOT - Week By Week Progress Pictures

i-1 should have been topped more to keep the stretch down. The easiest to bend.

i-2 is literally the nicest looking plant. Most uniform and best topped/pruned.

h-1 should have been topped on 4 branches once more about a week from flower. Harder to train than either i-1/i-2.

h-3 was broken in 3 places. Should have been nicer to her. :bigjoint: Pruning was stopped as the plant is impossible to train without snapping completely.

@Maxsisun I have not yet looked but perhaps if you haven't already, try some thermal paste on the mounting feet for the MeanWell Drivers. Might better aid in heat transfer to the heatsink allowing for the driver to run cooler increasing longevity & efficacy. Liking your product so far, thanks again!

UPDOOT - Trich Development

So far, H1 & I1 are showing the most development with H1 having the most development among the ladies, with trichomes coating fan leaves.

Have noticed a tiny bit of light stress on the pistils and have since moved the lights up to about 18". To get any closer with the Maxsisun MF1000 I would need to dim the light to achieve their suggested flowering height of 12".

UPDOOT - Overall Plant Progress

Plants are still doing quite well. Ladies were a tad dry so they got some BSM water today & were watered to saturation.

Today marks the end of the 4th week. Expecting some nice flower swelling in these next 2 weeks.

UPDOOT - Defeciencies....ugh.

Thought I had it whooped but it appears the plants are whooping me.

Since transplant I have been feeding 1/2 dose of Cal/Mag, Tiger Bloom and some weak feedings of KelpMe in hopes to build a storage of nutes in soil going into flower. Apparently the plants didn't get enough or are locked out. I have no tools to test ppm or ec. Over the past 1 week she has been fed a full dose of Cal/Mag & Tiger Bloom. Today was her scheduled feeding and fed her again since she still looks hungry. Hoping I'm not screwing things up.

I-1: suspected Magnesium deficiency
20220211_070832.jpg

I-2: Suspected Phosphorus deficiency
20220211_070815.jpg

H-1&H-3: Suspected Cal/Mag deficiency
20220211_070850.jpg

Not a clue though. To have been feeding and see this appear out of the blue in just a few days makes me nervous AF.

Hoping I can get some help on these girls. Don't want to ruin harvest but it looks like I just may. Ugh.

UPDOOT - Deficiencies Continued

Day by Day girls are getting worse & worse. So freaking frustrating. Due to lack of tools I cannot tell whether I am over nuted, under fed or over watered. I'd like to think over watering isn't the issue as I let the pots dry a bit before watering. But crap in one hand, wish in the other....

They were fed 1/2 dose cal/mag and 2/3 dose Tiger Bloom. May or may not have been the thing to do. Time will tell. Man I hate this. I can research the f outta this but when nothing is making sense to me and I have no tools for testing I am pretty well out of options.

Here they are in all their....disastrousness.
