I got a couple of these lights and haven't started a grow with them yet. I can't seem to get HLG to communicate with me. They don't answer their email or phone messages. My question is about the dimmer and output power. What is the increment change or value of each click of the dimmer? I will be growing in two four by four areas and would like to lower and dim the light. I used hps in the past and just put my hand at plant top and felt if it was too hot. This method doesn't seem like a good idea with leds.

Buy a wattage meter to plug the light into. That'll solve the problem... I don't have a accurate answer but the value of each click is maybe 50-75wat? I'm not sure. but I can say the dimmer is sensitive you can give it a ever so slightly turn and it will change by 5 to 10w.. and ill suggest keeping the light 35-40inchs during veg and 28-35 during flower.

I'll raise the wattage In a week or so. I did have it to 500w but I seen stress right away on the girls for a week so I lowered the wattage back down and they come right.

This is what I wanted to know. It didn't have to be exact to the watt. You are telling me it's linear, for all I knew it was logrithmic. When I turn the dimmer down, it seems to not change much to my eyes, until I turn it pretty far down.

Oh yes there's not much change that seems to happen in terms of light intensity from our point of view but there sure is a change in watts being pulled from the wall

I think i also capped it at 62w - 599w from the wall if I can clearly remember

I shouldn't need to contact HLG unless I need to replace anything. One of the reasons I bought them, it looked as if the light boards on the bottom were replaceable if needed

First- eating crow, HLG called before and didn't leave a message and I didn't recognize the number. 2nd- replacement boards for the 600R are the 288s listed on their product page. 3rd- If you want to adjust light height and don't have a PAR meter, Set light height at 30" and full power, take a lumen meter ($30) and get a measurement. Then multiply that value by 75, 50, or 25% and get values. Then set light to height desired, put your meter at canopy height and adjust light dimmer to hit those percentage values you previously calculated at full power.
You could run more power and less time. Kinda like they do it outside. Just an idea, juice that 600 up and cut 30 mins off the timer, or whatever, to get your DLI. More power, deeper photon penetrating thought the depth of the canopy, usually gets ya more consistent product with less larf. Just a thought. Have a good one. TC

Will do a scrog so whole area should get covered I will play with the light, just concerned about burning the top Turn it up little by little
How high above canopy? What are your temps and humidity?

It'd be great if HLG would include a cheat sheet for par value @ recommended height based on wattage
Just download a PAR or PPFD app on your phone, probably not exactly accurate but will definitely get you in the ballpark, that's all I was using until I had the spare cash to buy a proper meter
Unfortunately I'm out of space on my phone, probably cheaper to buy the meter, lol..
