How true is it that the Reserva Privada/DNA stable has fell the fuck off?

I'm about to put a seed order in and had a few old favourites from their lines that I want to revisit... and the more I'm reading the more I'm hearing talking about them losing their original parent strains and none of the quality being the same.

Anyone got any recent experience of their stuff and know their old gear to compare it?

I got their Kandy Kush(OG Kush x Trainwreck) as a freebie from Attitude seed bank back in 2012 and it was/is my favorite strain. The problem is, I bought another 2x packs of it around 2016-2017 and the Fem pack didn't have it. I've been sitting on a regular seed pack for several years now and occasionally think about popping it.

What's the kushiest strain out there then? Something which guarantees that proper OG smell and intense taste in a pack?

Their old OG and Sour Kush were some of the best herb you could get.

I don’t know about their older strains but their new sorbet line is pretty good, from what I’ve tried at least.

Tbh I’d expect their older stuff to probably be not as good as it was. I find with a lot of those kinda breeders like dna and greenhouse etc it’s best to get their strains when they are newer as that’s when they are at their best, usually. Not all breeders are like this tho, jus some of them I’ve noticed this is a bit of an issue with their older lines.

Their bakers delight was pretty dank when I did it about a year ago especially one specific plant. I’ve been meaning to buy another pack. Really pungent stinky dense an frosty buds on all plants and a good yield.

I did the gelato sorbet too and that was really nice also but I had one or 2 phenotype/plants I wasn’t too keen on an they liked bud rot too, but there’s some nice plants in them to be found if you can find a pack. a couple had a nice gelato funk, but One or 2 had a peppery/spicey funk to it I didn’t really care for much.

The bakers delight all plants were pretty great. One in particular had a real nice skunky/gassy funk with a very sweet doughy undertones. I’ve never had either cookies cut before but if I had to guess I’d say this is what it smells more like. The other plants didn’t have the sweet doughy funk but they were still very nice and pungent/skunky I got a few beans left.

The gelato sorbet has been out of stock in attitude for ages now but the bakers d is still there I think. I do have some sour sorbet, strawberry sorbet and sorbet stash I’ve not popped or tried yet also.
I’ve been growing in house genetics and cannarado gear lately so don’t know when il get around to popping them. I have 29 in house strains to get through first lol but maybe one day il pop one of each to see what happens.

They did lose the original OG#18 female about 10 plus years ago in a raid....................supposedly. It was one of my most sought after strains I ever grew. The nugs were pure OG Kush. Hardly any sugar leaves and dark green with very few hairs.

You got VERY high but it didn't last long. So people wanted more and more. I gave one guy 7 grams and he shared it with people. 20 people came back to him and asked for more. Once they got it 100 more followed. I don't know why because to me it smelled like minty 2 day old socks.

Tried to grow it a few more times but I got herms twice and the plants were larfy and terrible. The Lemon OG is still decent I think.

I had some of their OG 18 grown from a recent pack-not by me though-which was excellent and is making me take a second look at them. "Losing their parents" is a classic tactic invented by a certain famous Dutchman to discredit his competitors many years ago, and it worked like a charm, and it appears to be still in use.
It's unfortunately also true. When you browse any catalogue which has a million F1 strains, like Bodhi, you can guarantee not all of them are staying around, intentionally or not. Some don't get maintained and some get lost. Or, in the case of the bigger names they outsource and then don't have control over what gets used to make the next generation of the same named packet and that particular cross is never the same again.

But about that OG18... what was it like buddy? taste wise etc..

The Kushes I've had from them come through HEAVY... and I mean after zero cure or drying time. For me that's the standard of a high grade strain in regards to flavour. Heavy thick hashy and with that proper OG flavour.

I snagged a pack of lemon skunk a year or so ago but then noticed they sold out not long after. Gonna pop them later this year.
I did the same thing..7 years ago..then they went out of stock for good while. I heard complaints about the newer lemon skunk not being the same. Who knows whats real or remaake but im interested to see what u find. I also have 2 packs of super lemon og from the limited collection. I f2 most packs i buy doubles of so yea when that time comes i should crack all the old lemon stuff in one shot.

Hope u update the dna genetics thread when you do yours.

From what I remember, DNA/RP changed head breeders around the time of their first Skywalker release, and that's when the quality dropped off.
Said head breeder came in thinking they were hot shit in a champagne glass and turned out to be cold diarrhea in a Dixie cup.
That new head breeder did not take very good care of the parental stock that was there before them either.
That person was out of there in a year, or two, but it seemed like the long term damage was already done.
DNA/RP went on the skids for a little while after that, until they got an injection of new genetics, and hooked up with Crocket.

Nice. Think I might hit them up next run for some skywalker and a couple of OGs.
haven't tried the OG. make sure its the OG18. Ive bought the pack and singles. super consistent. Structure and yield and easy to grow. Tried the crocket banana version w og18 that was a super plant in every way but the smoke was not the og kushy taste i like. Same for the stberry and og18. Id go straight 18 pack next time again.

Their tangie is still good, their lemon walker strain sucked for me. Small yields and absolutely no lemon terps whatsoever.

I grew a Skywalker og in 2015 or so probably old seed stock ordered from EU seed bank and that one fem bean to this day is one of my favorite flavors. Didn't taste like og had this unique hashy, berry kush profile and damn was it lovely. Nowadays, not sure but i still have some of their gear. Kosher kush x lemon skunk, gonna need to wet those soon
