HPS Security Light from Home Depot (In Use)

100 watt isnt alot but with 2 of those cool tubed you could get close enough to kiss them and cfl side lighting, you should have it made. You could get by with one but i definitely recommend cool tubing via the DIY method in the grow faq. just got my bake-a-round today and am looking into getting a 400 watt.. 54 for the ballast and 12 for the bulb. ebay and 1000bulbs.com respectively.

I use Insidesun.com they have great great prices and its not ebay.. had to many broken items on ebay... but thats my dumb luck.. And is it self contained bulb or can you remove the glass cover? the good thing about the low watts hps is you dont have the heat of a 400... maybe just exhaust without the cool tube youd be ok.. fan pointing up to blow the heat past the bulb up into the exhaust... bring in cool air bottom exhaust going in... youll have primo just make sure to suppliment and vent...when you go on vacation stick a shoe string in the drain hole and push it in alittle. I got a rubbermade kept the lid on filled it with water dropped the string threw a hole in the lid and self watering for up to a week... after you get home remove the shoe string and let it dry out alittle

Use that at the top with a reflector, and 2700k 42w CFLs as side lighting, keeping them a few inches away from every piece of foliage

I've been having problems for the last few weeks with my plants. They have been getting thousands of little yellow specs all over them, my Ph is perfect, and I don't add ferts do to the high quality home mixed organic soil. I asked my friend to check it out when he came over to help install the HPS. He said its spidermites, and sure enough it was and the symptoms matched. We used Safers. Starting the battle.

I just bought a HPS "security" light from Home Depot for $70. It is rated 100w 120v. What I would like to know is, is this sufficient (better than CFLs) to flower out 3 girls? I have seen people say this can be done, but I want to know you guy's expert opinions. Just a real quick response would do fine. Just so I know I made a better investment than more CFLs.

I would return that and buy the 150watt hps from http://www.e-conolight.com/

With the 100Watt you have its prob about 10000 lumens. id say your gonna need some additional cfls or t5 as side lighting.

That would be nice. I sprayed Safers all on the plants as the GrowFAQ says (a 20 day cycle), pruned all of the severly attacked leafs (after all the mites were dead), transplanted, and placed into a new grow room that was sterilized and sprayed down with safers. I am not hallucinating when I say they look much much better.

no need to return it they work great in my opinion.. budget or budget they will do fine... as you get experience which you obviously are you can make a descision to upgrade... for now you'll be smoken your shit so long as you complete the cycle... keep that head up and good job on the mites cheers.
