Kaya Gold Indoors

Hello Everyone! I have been growing off and on for about 2 years now and finally decided to do a journal. I still consider myself a novice, so if any of you pros out there have any tips/advice/comments they would be very much appreciated. Here is my setup. I am growing in the attic because it is the only practical place that I can do it. I live in the South so heat is always a problem, that is why I am trying Kaya Gold Feminized from Nirvana. This is an outdoor strain that is meant for hotter climates which hopefully will work out well. It is also billed as a great plant for novice growers. I have not seen many threads about this strain, and none indoors, so this should be fun!

Here is my setup:

Tent- 2ft deep, 4 ft wide, 4.5 feet tall.

Starter Lights- 2-24in. CFL for Germination.

Veg/Flower Lights- Harvest Master 400hps, air cooled, hortilux bulb, Harvest Master Ballast.

Grow Medium- Soil- Fox Farms Ocean Forest Potting Soil and Fox Farms Light Warrior mixed at a 2:1 ratio.

Nutes- House and Garden Soil A/B, Algen Extract, Root Accelerator, Bud XL, Zen, and Top Booster
Superthrive for seeding.

I will start my next post with Day 1. :leaf:

Day 1-

Plants: Germd 8 Feminized Kaya Gold seeds from Nirvana In rockwool that were placed in 8in tall square pots of soil.

Nutes- Mixed 2.5ml each of H&g Soil A/B, 1.1ml Root Accelerator, and 1 drop of Super Thrive in one Gallon of tapwater PH 6.3. I will use rainwater if we ever get any! I spread the gallon over the already damp cubes and soil.

Temp- Tent 91, Ambient 86

Humidity-16%

Lights- None today.

Sleep well my little babies and have sweet, sticky, dank dreams for Daddy!

I added 2 24in cfl's and 4 25w cfl's at each end for seeding/starting. Correction to equpment, I will be vegging/flowering with Sun Systems Yeild Master 2, 6in air cooled light, with a Sun systems Harvest Pro ballast, and a Hortilux 400hps bulb.

Here are a few pics of my setup:

Day 7-
7 out of 8 seeds popped up and are 1.5-2in. tall. The 8th one is trying to poke through. A big thanks to Nirvana for their quality seeds. Watered yesterday with root accelerator, super thrive and soil supplements(same as day 1). Here are some pics:

Day 11- I had 3 very small plants that I took out of my tent and moved to an outdoor location. These plants have been under lights for 9 days and are looking good. Im curious to see what this plant can do indoors, and see if they can take the heat as Nirvana states in their description.

Tent Temp Range: 68-99 deg.
Ambient Temp Range:101-46 deg.
Humidity- 16-33%
Nutes: 5ml ea. H&G Soil a/b, 1.1ml H&G Root Accelerator-all per gallon.
Water PH- 6.5, tap water

Whats up Turtle? Love your avatar. Im curious about this strain myself. I grew some outdoors last year but gave them very little attention. I got about an ounce and it was GREAT stuff. I want to see what it can produce indoors with alot of TLC. Thanks for stopping by!

You know what would greatly benefit the plant's harvest during flowering? Advanced Nutrients Nirvana. I bought some and it worked better then another product I'd tried yet. Shit fattened up my flower sights fast. It's cheap too. only like $20 dollars or something. You should get some. Be exciting to watch someone using it too!

well no man I bought it straight from the "Advanced Nutrients" website. When you buy it straight from the website it cost $25 dollars but when I bought it, it came in the mail with a hat, a coupon, and product discounts so it was really worth it to buy it off the website.

Day 16- Plants are growing fast and looking very healthy. I shuffled and turned plants. Monitored moisture levels. Everything is looking good so far. There is a little bit of browning on the tips of the lower leaves but Im not too concerned at this point. I also gave them Magic Green foliar spray by H&G today.

Day 17 total, Day 9 on veg cycle. Plants are growing quickly and look great. I will give them some water with nutes tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure that heat over 90 degrees slows plant growth to the point that it eventually gets stunted (yield and height-wise) permanently. I think the heat might be too high in there. Otherwise everything looks good.

Yeah actually he's right. If you're temps are above 90 thats probably whats causing the browning.

Thanks Beansly and Turtle for your input, I really appreciate it. Please keep the tips coming, I need all the help I can get! Luckily, the weather here is cooling and my tent has been averaging about 80. FINALLY! I even had to add a little heater for a few cold nights! Ive never had that problem before. My last grow was with CFL's, about 15 of them, all with their own internal ballast that caused heat problems all the time. Now that I have moved to the air cooled 400w HPS my tent is cooler with the one big light. That suprised me.
