LED's?

Does anyone have any experience with using LED Light bars for growing? They are about the same cost as HPS's but put off less heat and should require less energy. I am not sure about the lumen out put though.

everyone's watching LEDs closely. they will be the future of indoor growing one day once the technology get's the lumens high enough for flowering. right now, it isn't up to speed.

search the forums here at rollitup. a couple of people have tried them and journaled the process. LEDs work fine for vegging but fail to preform anywhere near an HID during flowering.

I don't agree that hid's is the only choice. I believe it is the wrong choice. You may want to view my journal. I am getting ok results using t-5's. Numerous advantages for new grower's. It's like Prego. its in there ( the journal). VV

well..thats one of my little shortcomings, I don't know how to link. You could click on my name view the profile, it will have a spot for threads started by me. There are only five of them. Its the one titled My Current Setup: Journal?? VV

Well I have seen a self contained (air, light, humidity ect..) and what I am hearing is you can grow a plant until you need to flower then you need to bring it out in a more conventional setting?!? This is a question

With the right setup, LED lamps will veg as good as what is needed for a solid tight veg. But if you want to even come close to what the HIDs are getting you wont do that with the current lot of LEDs available. So on switching to the 12/12 photoperiod we use either CFLs or HIDs to do the flowering.
