Mars Hydro FC4800/4x4 Upgrade Journal. The good, the fake & the unknown seeds.

This grow Should be interesting to say the least. I am working on finishing my 4x4 set up. For now I have started seedlings in my 27”x27” Mars hydro tent with the TS1000.
Small off brand 4” extraction fan sitting on the roof of the tent with a small beat up piece of ducting connecting it to the tent. No need for a filter right now.
image.jpg
1x 4” desk fan hanging in there to push air around.
image.jpg
Seeds are in separate plastic lids sitting in water over an Inkbird seedling heat mat for 24 hours.
I have a slim oil filled radiator that fits perfect, and a small cool mist humidifier to set the tone inside the tent.

The Inkbird IBS-TH2 Plus will help me monitor :p

once these girls are mature and have been sexed, the ladies will move into the Mars Hydro 4x4 under the FC-4800 bar style led fixture.
Still piecing together my set up, but figured I might as well get the beans popping.

Genetics that are taking stage this round are:

1x Cement Shoes s1 - Cult Classics (Feminized)
1x Wedding Cake - ILGM (Feminized)
1x Oreo Big Stuff - Copycat (Feminized)
1x Collab # 5. Night King x Lurch - Thug Pug (Reg)
1x Fluffy Waffles - Thumbprint genetics (Reg)
3x Pineapple Gelato F1 - Sticky mitten genetics

Hoping I get lucky with the regs. Wanting 1 female from the lot. If the thug pug, or Fluffy waffles happen to be male, they may be kept for pollen.

That’s all I have for now.. be back soon with updates.

By the way.. the second half of the title goes with the “car fax” reports on all of these seeds..

The good.. thug pug + cult classics

the fakes lol - copycat + ILGM

the unknown - Thumbprint genetics + sticky mitten genetics (which are 2 ppl I find to be decent) I’ve seen a few ppl grow thumbprint and seen some gorgeous plants produced, but I have not seen a full sticky mittens female grow out. So I said to myself “let’s get to it” so 3 of them were planted out of a 6 pack.

Let’s see who throws down what & cut the chit chat shall we? bongsmilie :peace:

There’s also a few little side dish bowls from a local restaurant that will serve well as starter pots. A friend found a couple seeds in his crop and was wondering if I’d start em up and see if they’d even pop. We’ll see how that goes.

Not every seed has popped, but they have been in water long enough. They all sank like I hoped they would.

Set the seedling mat under the saucer that’s holding all the cups, and let them do their thing. I’ll spray them a couple times a day making sure to keep the soil surrounding the seed moist.

At this point I still don’t have the light set to come on yet.

After 2 weeks we are on day 4 of veg for a couple. Some are just getting into it, and 2 more seeds popped that I added in. At first the fluffy waffles popped.. but the tap root must have been weak. It didn’t fully sprout. So I placed another in the soil, and added a Dream wedding by mass growers connection. They have since both sprouted. There was also an incident where the Inkbird hygrometer slipped off the rim of the cup and just crushed one of the pineapple gelato seedlings.. so one of those are history.

Day 17 above ground.
The cement shoes is really praying to that cfl bulb, I’m just trying to lessen the node spacing since she is one of the tallest. 7372C6DB-1260-4E97-9FE9-BCF7AA0F6942.jpeg31ECF75C-15A3-4441-AE39-1388A0318238.jpegA220FB21-3C9C-4D85-A773-A23F009E334A.jpegD375137F-7548-4CB2-AFF0-41E00A4E1E5D.jpegEE960A11-9C48-41B2-AD1A-3D312A03E4C3.jpeg3DA0E6F6-45B8-427D-ADAD-82B5D8EC691F.jpegDD5905FD-C8A0-4A28-8A2B-29E1D75E9DAB.jpeg8B49F0FE-5800-41DD-B783-BFEDECBD4BBC.jpeg544C34F3-DE73-4673-81A3-34F35AD7E80E.jpeg
they will all be transplanted in the next couple of days into 1g pots. Unsure if I’m going to hit the hydro store for some mykoz, or use fish shit.

These pics were taken yesterday after I let the cups lighten up a little.. almost due for a watering. Just peeping to transplant into 1gal black fabric pots by opulent systems.

fish sh!t & tap water mix was spread around the holes of each plant. Applied with a bbq condiment bottle. Also used to water the plants thru these early phases.

Everything done by hand. No automation aside the light timer. (Which is mechanical)

I heard horror stories of digital timers/programmers. LED’s remaining simply lit after lights out for one. I’ve never had that issue with any of my set ups.

Things got a little crazy yesterday and forgot to post. Here they are in their new pots. Not looking so happy, but nothing less expected. I did free up the roots at the bottom of the plants before up potting. 6E946C09-26C1-4DC9-85C0-48EFC924C30A.jpegDAC4E8DC-86C8-436A-99D8-D89511CF26B7.jpegAED3D68F-A1FA-4114-96B4-DC8075128E13.jpeg5DB35D2E-5D21-4377-B81F-79970743BF19.jpegC2037F83-3372-4F46-B6DB-1987B16E7FEB.jpegB153FCA5-EEC6-49CE-9165-622C49EE9612.jpeg3B502157-787A-498C-99B2-A3F50638CE29.jpeg

Here they are today. Looking better, also showing N deficiency creeping up on a couple of them. Saturating more of the fresh soil, and the roots making it there to the new food should fix this, so I won’t be making the mistake of adding nutes just yet. I don’t want to overwhelm them, and end up doing some real damage. The only issue I am having so far is the node spacing on the Oreo Big Stuff. I’m not liking it. It’s the tallest.. with the least amount of growth under the top leaves. 55D40D87-B1D3-4DEC-94E9-18071C28DD0F.jpegCB0A77BD-FBC9-44EC-B640-7856F0DA4790.jpegBA63C3D3-7364-458D-9F7E-BD74B536B278.jpegE855FBB5-5F93-4C5B-9DD0-535C8A8AC7B5.jpeg78D54275-270D-4168-89F0-A8397686AA97.jpegEBF4D8DA-3E6E-48A8-85F9-B7065CABE5DD.jpeg1CAD29CF-2969-4ADE-B96F-CE0D40186655.jpeg5A170981-CD75-4677-94D9-FA6F28936AA0.jpegBF659B05-709C-41BB-A2F2-3B41745A77BD.jpeg

Day 23: I took the temps down, backed off on the lights dimmer to about 20%. I had them getting hit with 75w at 20” and I noticed light burn on the tips on new growth. Today they are looking a lot better.

Still not adding any nutrients. Water is 90ppm/7.6 ph. Not watering til run off. Just enough once a day to run moisture to the bottom of the pot.
