This is a candidate for a future mythbusters episode, according to the msg boards. What's suspect is that these 'monks' have been caught using tricks in the past to do all sorts of feats, and in fact variations of this needle trick have been debunked. That doesn't mean this one is fake, but should be highly suspect. Stage magicians tell us that if these monks are using chi to break the glass, they are doing it the hard way.

Oh that's nothin...lemme know when he can take a balloon and twist it into an animal using just his mind

That's not a needle. When you think needle you think tiny little thing that goes in a sewing machine, right? That is more like a large finishing nail. Not a railroad spike by any measure, but still a lot heavier than a needle. If you can get one to hit on its point, it is more than capable of going through a piece of thin window glass. That being said, it's still pretty impressive that they can throw a nail at a target and have it land point first every time.

Ricky Jay could probably kill a man with a playing card. Playing cards made of PAPER.

This question was actually asked, and Ricky played a part in exploring it.

The impressive speed that magicians could throw the cards gave rise to a myth that a card can kill or seriously injure someone if thrown correctly by a person with enough force. However, this myth was tested on the Discovery Channel program MythBusters , and subsequently debunked. Mythbusters' co-host Adam Savage, was already quite familiar with the throwing card trick and was showed to be quite adept at performing it, with his maximum throwing speed being clocked at 25 miles per hour or 40 km/h (which failed to cause any injury). The episode also feature record holder and card throwing expert Ricky Jay, who demonstrated card throwing, and also had the speed of his throws was clocked by the Mythbusters. A playing card lacks enough mass to transfer sufficient energy to its target on impact, and even when accelerated mechanically by an electric motor at about 150 mph, it it did not puncture the skin enough to kill a person.
Keep in mind that Ricky Jay is a magician that excels in close up magic, and isn't trying to say this is a result of chi or some mysterious force, it's simply a trick. Which is why magicians easily see through the tricks of the shaolin sideshow monks.
