Hey all!
I'm completely new to all this so I thought I'd see what you all thought of my first grow!
First off, this was never meant to be an overly serious grow, I really don't smoke that much (barely an 1/8th a month) and have no interest in selling the stuff on, so this is essentially an experiment into the most basic setup possible with a viable end product.
I've done a fair bit of research on growing, (+rep btw to Widow Maker for your awesome how-to-grow thread) so know a fair bit about what i'm doing wrong, but that said, here's my setup:
[Apologies btw for the annoying passive 3rd person style, I'm in the middle of writing up a research project so my heads sort of stuck in that format!]
The strain used is Skunk No.1, the seeds were picked up in Amsterdam while there over the summer. Germination was taken place folded in a moist paper towel sealed in a blacked out jam jar. The tap root presented after 24 hours. The seedling was then transferred to a 4'' compost pot and placed under 2x 12w cool white CFLs running 24/7. The cotyledons broke the surface on day 3, with the first true leaves appearing on day 5. On day 35 the plant was moved to a new cupboard due to height issues and the lighting changed to 18/6. At this stage the plant was about 5'', had 4 nodes, and had been transplanted to a 10'' pot. The lighting was shifted by 2 hours a day from day 40 to 44, giving a 12/12 cycle. At this point a 30w warm white CFL was added to the setup, and bloom nutrients were started. Also, due to a bit of a cock up with the new light, a few of the fan leaves got burnt so were removed. First flowers were observed on day 59, the lighting cycle was then changed to 10/14. This was done to speed up maturation due to a scheduled flat inspection by my landlord in mid December (about day 95). We are now on day 72. The buds are still small but the first hints of brown can be seen on a few of the top pistoles. Trichromes are still translucent.
So there you go! I'm well aware of the lack of adequate lighting, ventilation, reflective surfaces, odour removers, pH regulation, CO2 producers, ppm control... But see what you think!
