New Grow Room. Air Circulation Question!

Alright so a friend of mine just informed me he would like to start a small grow in this attic-like/closet/crawl space behind his kitchen in his apartment. It's plenty big enough but the problem is there are no windows or vents for good air circulation (intake and outtake). There is a door that he could leave open but he has cats that can jump pretty high so we would have to install some sort of screen door.

My question is if we had just an oscillating fan in the room and opened the door for a few hours on a daily basis, would that be enough fresh air for the plant to grow? I know it is not ideal but I just was curious if it could survive in conditions like that at all.

Any help on this issue would be really appreciated. He can't cut any holes in the walls since he is just renting. He lives by himself though and his neighbors smoke too, so the smell shouldn't be an issue. :blsmoke:

why dont you cut a hole in the door and attach the duct to the inside of the door with a fan sucking air from? you could put some sort of vent grill on the outside of the door to cover up the hole, just make sure you leave the ducting long enough so you can open and close the door without it pulling on the duct, this is the way im doing it, works great

p.s the fan idea will also work if you place it close enough to the open door it will suck air in because even oscilation fans are sucking air from the back:lol:

Will not work!
You can vent or have a cge.
1. CGE will at a minimum require a split air conditioning system (in your situation), a dehumidifier, co2 supplementation and air purification. In order to run a CGE efficiently the lights need to be isolated and the walls, floor and ceiling should be insulated in order to prevent heat infiltration.
2. Ventilated grow space will at a minimum require 1 intake, 1 exhaust and odor control. To run efficiently additional venting is required as well.

You could get yourself a new door (put the existing one in storage) install an intake (low) and an exhaust (high). These have to be sized right to the proper extraction fan. The extraction fan needs to be installed between the exhaust and the light, and the carbon filter needs to installed before the light intake.

Not looking so good really..........Biggest noob mistake is thinking you dont need a proper vent system.......With out it your just pissing in the wind...... If your not going to do it right just tell him to buy his cannibas this way we can save some poor plants from being torchered

Ok this is what I was worried about...I'll express this to him so that he is aware of the problem. We already ordered some AK-48 fem seeds from nirvana...so hopefully we can figure this intake/outtake issue before they get here. I was over there today, and there are some gaps in the slanted ceiling boards that are letting in outside air but there aren't many...so I mean it isn't completely sealed off from ventilation but it definitely isn't ideal. However I feel like I've seen some people grow in attics before and they didn't seem to have much air circulation and the plants grew fine. Maybe I am remembering incorrectly. I'll try to find the particular grow journals i'm talking about.

THANKS A TON for all the input. Really appreciate it everyone!
