Newbie having plant problems

Hi,

I was trying to grow some Arjan's Ultra Haze #2. I'm using 2x 225 LED 14 watt lights that I bought on ebay from LED wholesalers. I also have Liquid Earth Grow, Vigor, Bloom nutrient solution and General Hydroponics pH up/down.

At first I tried to do reservoir hydroponics in a small fish tank. I had this tray that was submerged in water and put in the amounts of grow and vigor solution it said on the bottle.

The first seed I tried to grow hydroponically I had in a rockwool cube. It germinated fine. Then I put hydroton around the rockwool cube and put it in a net pot. At first it didn't grow at all, but I think it was just that not enough light was getting into the rockwool cube. I took the forming plant out of the rockwool cube and it started to grow (LED lights were maybe a foot away from the plant). It grew about 2 inches, 2 tiny round leaves formed, and then the plant stopped growing.

No improvement in a week, so I tried transplanting it to Miracle Gro soil. It died. (As I suspected).

Next two plants I tried to grow in Miracle Gro soil with the LED lights, same as before. Because they were in pots I had them closer to the LED lights. They started to grow pretty fast, seemingly healthy at first, but then after they grew about 3-4" (maybe 4-5 days later) the leaves on one of the plants shriveled up. The other one was growing slowly but looked fairly healthy (the top leaves were starting to form ridges and get larger after about a week). Then about 2 days later both plants started to die.

I'm not sure what's going on, my friend was watering them and taking care of them (they weren't here @ my place) so I can't tell you precisely what she did. For some reason I think she fucked something up, but she says she did everything right so it could be the lights, or the Miracle Gro, or both, or something else...

I only have 2 seeds left now, all my other plants died. Any way I can get these to grow smoothly with these LED lights?? Please help! :-( I can't afford any better lights.:leaf:Peace & Pot

There's so many variables to your situation here that its pretty difficult for anybody to pin point the problem.

I'm not an expert of any sorts and I'm much more familiar with hydroponics. With that said, its really difficult for me to say what happened with your soil attempt. If I had to take a guess, you got a couple problems. First, you dont know whats going on. Second, unless your friend is an experienced grower Id say that she probably overwatered them, and who knows what else. Third, you dont need those nutes until youve actually got a plant.

Could you link to the led lights or post a pic? 14 W isnt really alot but they might be ok, your yield will take a significant hit though. If you cant afford better lights than those 14W led's then led's are probably the wrong direction for you, get some CFL's.

If you want things to go smoothly, your going to have to grow in a controlled environment until you understand plant language and get a grip on your system or whatever it is your growing in. My advice would be to grow some bag seed until you get a hang of things and to cut your friend out of the operation all together.
