Hardly. Not enough dolomite OR perlite and over priced considering you can duplicate it yourself for much less. I do and have been for years.
If you can't roll yer own I most certainly agree with you AFA SS#4 or ProMix over REALLY over priced mixes like FFOF and the like.
The thing is, amendments are usually added to any of the above, so why not just get a bale of peat moss, $12 (Premier, same folks that make ProMix), a 4cf bag of perlite, $18, and you have ~10cf of a base mix for $30 that you can amend far beyond ANY of the pre mixed.
You are basically paying $$$ for them to mix it, which you do all over again when you add amendments, since they never add enough to do any good, just enough to make it onto the label.
IDK, guess it depends on amounts also. I use over 30cf/year, so it pays to do my own mixing. But, it's also nice being able to blend it just how I like.
