SIP Grow

To start I used 25 litre totes for the reservoir, yoghurt containers for wick, 5 gallon pails for soil, garbage bag to cover SIP. Cost $12 per SIP. In the past my reservoirs were too small so these will triple the capacity of an old style.

Soil mix for a 5 gal pail is
3 in 1 compost loam peat bagged soil - 12 litres
Rice hulls - 1.5
Peat - 1.5
EWC - 1.5
Pumice - 1.5
Blood Meal - 1/3 cup
Alfalfa - 2/3 cup
Whole wheat flour - 5 cups
Gypsum - 1.5 cups
Wheat Bran - 1 cup
Epsom Salt - 6 tblspn

Fertilizer is Roots Farm 4-0-1 and 1-4-7
Ph down is Roots Farm

Tried cook style soils, they take too long so made a soil that doesn’t need a cook and is faster acting.

Did the 4 way lst method, the dolato offered up a six way, the more the merrier. The North Thunderfuck because it grew alternating so quickly became a 7 way lst. All supercropped to some degree. The cannafuel grows so bushy very little training required.

Just finished 5 th week of flower the reservoir size seems to be doing better for the size of plants. Takes 6 days for the thirstiest plant and about 9 days for the others to empty reservoir. So far the clear tote reservoir at 20 litres and the 5 gallon pails for pots seems to be a good fit. The rez is shallow and wide enough for enough water but not so wide to cramp floor space. It’s all on wheels so it’s easy to pull the plants out.

Here’s the SIP and more detail on why it is set up this way. The clear tote is so I can see when it’s empty, shallow and wide for capacity. The hole for filling with a funnel and the black garbage bag is for keeping the light from the reservoir. The height of a standard size yoghurt container as the wick sits at the bottom of the clear tote so theoretically I could put 25 litres in the rez. I tried homemade LAB in the reservoir but it eventually gets funky so I switched to Root Farm PH down now there is no more gunk or funk from the rez.

I vegged for 45 days before flipping, seems to fill the 12.5 sq ft space up nicely. I suspected I have mites so I bought Curcumeris predatory mites, 7 pouches for 4 plants and the damage has ceased. I’m not too concerned at this point with mites, seems to be working. Will need to cleanse the area next time.

The light is Vesta dual channel, one channel is 2700K the other is 5000K. There is full coverage by the light on aluminum angle for heat sinks. The light is variably controlled for color temperature, so this acts as my veg light as well as my flower light. Veg is set to 4800 K and flower is set to 3340K. Plants get sunrise and sunset lighting everyday so when lights go on the 2700K channel is a higher percentage than the 5000K channel and as noon time hits the color temperature goes up. The daily rise and fall of the sun color temperature is set by the Inventronics drivers.

Day 44 of flower, lots of white pistols and founds some boy parts on a branch that I clipped the girl parts off of a few weeks earlier, not good but I think it’s the only set of knackers that are hangin. Let’s hope cause I’m not chopping it down. I thought these plants would be showing more orange pistols by now but the waiting game sets in

First picture is Cannaboom, which is the same genetics as Ringo’s gift.

Second picture is Cannafuel

Third picture is Dolato

Fourth pic is North Thunderfuck - really disappointed in the bud structure on this one, I’ve seen other North Thunderfucks with much better structure, just got unlucky with this pheno.

I have 3 North Thunderfucks on at the moment, they are on the second day of 12/12. I think I have two different phenos, 2 plants look identical and the third has slightly different looking leaves. Only time will tell for sure.

Yours look really good TBH.

Thanks, mine had odd looking leaves as well, and alternating nodes immediately. did yours do that too? I find the nugs to be small, there’s going to be a lot of stem in it, that picture is the best looking part of the plant. I’ll be interested in how yours shape up.

I'll see if I can get a picture later.

Here is the first type I have, out of the 3 I popped this is the only one...

This is the second type I have. There are two of these...

The leaves seem much more jagged than the other one, under proper light it looks a darker green than the other one.

They are only 4 full days from flipping to 12/12, so only time will tell which is the better one.

That is quite different, mine look more like your first one once it got growing. The nice thing is you have a variety, planning on cloning any? The buds have taken longer to develop on this one but are finally packing on some weight

I was thinking about taking clones, but decided not to as I have too many seeds already. If I like it I will probably run it again at some point. Looking at the picture on the RQS website it appears their one has the jagged edges a bit like mine.
