Supplemental lighting jamaica

Hi guys I'm trying to using supplemental lighting to slightly extend the day length as it's short day here otherwise the plants will be really small.
Using the upcoming September 30th as reference it is only 11:58 while March the 31st the day is approximately 20 minutes longer so I was planning on setting up a bulb with a timer to give the extra 20 minutes or so but I was also wondering if I should set it to come on in the morning or in the evening using time and date for sunrise and sunset information. I know it's a lot of reading but extending the daylength slightly will allow for 4ft tall plants vs 2ft in short day.

My gut tells me extending the light at the end of the day instead of morning would be easier. I really have no clue though

ide say it comes down to what’s more convenient, I’m just figuring it will be hard to wake up before the sun to turn the light on if you don’t have timers, that’s early. It’s up to what you prefer but if it’s in the morning your gunna have to do it at like 3 am

I have a timer it's actually from a company in Cali that's what I would use to extend the daylength- I could grow out 1 to 1.5 lb plants like other people but I realized it is more efficient to grow more small plants - I'm looking to average 3oz per plant using blueberry+ lambsbread crossed with blueberry here's a pic of the greenhouse I'm starting + the lambsbread being pollinated

Nice man. If your looking to stop them from flowering you don’t need a ton of bright light, if you could make a small post with a light on it around and above your plants that will keep them from budding.
I heard people say if you don’t get light around the whole plant the undersides might flower, I may be wrong. So you may want to make sure it’s a brighter light, like a big ol flood light.

How much you get from your plants depends on the soil highly since your outdoors on Jamaica I assume it can be abit hard to get stuff there, you should start a compost pile for future soil, and try to find the best you can for now. If you can get your hands on some good fertilizer that helps too.

I found a picture to give an idea, took this off a website. Notice how he has 2 lights to make sure it covers the whole plant.F999D5D2-C463-4BE0-A15F-1C22F670CD10.jpeg

Thanks man we get daylight from around 5:20 at the moment and yes friends that use supplemental lighting to grow 1lb+ plants do have small issues with the lower or backside of the plant flowering that's with 50watt floods - I will start with the morning and see how it goes.

I was actually just thinking about how people manage weed crops in equatorial regions. I hope someone can answer your question. This is a neat topic. Some of my favorite strains lineages originated in equatorial mountain ranges.

Just find out how they do it in the short or "winter" season in Colombia or in the Canary Islands.

mite more of academic interest than anything. I’m a bit north of all that. Closest I could do is a south facing slope on the Appalachians but I’m still a ways off from land ownership and outdoor crops. Hopefully a couple years of indoor harvests can get me there, upsizing to a full 12x12 flower room once I finish my current grow.
