Switching from soil and Eden to Coco w/ drip system

I have been growing for years in both soil and rdwc but I’m looking to switch to coco to automate my setup a bit more with drip lines. I have been doing a lot of reading and keep finding conflicting opinions. I will be using coco/perlite grown in 3 gallon smart pot with a drip system. My question is when I set my timer how often should I be watering and for how long?

Every setup is going to be different unless you go with a complete setup like the bucket company. You can build your own from scratch and dial it in from there. You want coco to be 80-100% saturated all the time. You start slow and once roots are established you can ramp it up. Some will set timer to feed 3 times a day with 15-20% runoff each time others will set the time more frequently with less runoff. Lots of different ways to grow.

As far as run off goes how do I know if it’s 15-20% not to sure on that

You will have to isolate one plant with feeder and do some testing with how long to run to get desired runoff, once it’s dialed in you will have a starting point to set up the rest of the grow.

I run 50/50 coco/perlite on an automated system, I feed 3 times a day for 15 minutes. I have a 27 gallon res that is recirculating, change it out every week. I use jacks nutes now, started with gh and they worked as well but I like jacks better, just an opinion. I ran drippers only at first, now I have 2 1gph drippers and 1 valve controlled line per pot, 4 pots total, all 3 gallon. The valve I can open and close, and it ensures the drippers don’t clog while I’m not paying attention, you CANNOT over water Coco/perlite. Keeping your ph steady is the biggest key. I use citric acid most of the time. I also use ro water but that’s my issue with well water, use what’s best for you. Good Luck, ask if you’d like my opinion or further info on some of my grows.
