I know it’s elitist but it’s still my favorite tournament of the year
Watching an Amateur shoot -4 in the first round gives me chills to watch
I’m locked in to watching an amateur Aggie play with the best Longhorn in golf is a blast
If you know me and my disdain for most things Texas I have just two words for todays round
GIG EM

To bad the weather is fuken it up.. I'd like to see Sam win it..
That would be cool
Even if he doesn’t I liked the way he thinks and spoke in an interview
“At the beginning of the week everyone was saying , hey you might win low amateur, and I’m like that’s only beating 7 other people , there is a green jacket to win here and that’s what I’m trying to do “

Tiger Woods withdraws before the resumption of the third round.

I noticed on Friday he had a slight limp, obviously it got worse.

I think this will likely be the last time we see Tiger play professional golf.

I don’t
I think he was looking at possibly having to walk 27 holes today and on Augusta he knew he couldn’t make that walk without the adrenaline from being in contention
It’s hard to give up climbing if you ever reach the top of the mountain

The damp, cold weather must have reeked havoc on his surgically repaired, nearly amputated leg,the Bennet kid has a lot of class and poise,Koepka is in the drivers seat, birdie the par 5's and play par the rest and it's his,Freddie Couples deserves credit, gutting it out in the cold rain at 63 shows his love for golf as he has nothing to prove. Augusta is too buffed IMO,I work at a links course designed largely by D. Ross in 1899,while not as buff to the eye it's way more natural and sustainable. I like the more natural courses w/wild rough, and fitting more into nature, requiring less chemical intervention and less pressure on water resources. IMO some of the maintenance that these super buff courses require is off the charts, bordering on ridiculous.I like the Masters and it is beautiful but it probably has a crew of more than 50 in normal times and is budgeted by the exclusive 1% of the super rich and is so uppety.I understand tradition, nothing against the well healed membership that upholds it,but I prefer the US and British Opens for the spirit of the tournament as well as the high rough that makes hitting fairways a must, and I just maintain g.courses I don't golf.

How many greenskeepers work at Augusta?

“They have 45 full-time staff on turf, 35 on horticulture, and eight to 10 interns on hole care. There are also four full-time mechanics. The greenkeepers' prefab is immaculate. They will sand down all the paint on all the walls and paint it all again brand new every year.

wonder if they get to play for free on Mondays???? lol

It's over the top,bet the stress level is thru the roof maintaining such impeccable standards, super must be on xanax, imagine the meltdowns over any hydraulic leaks or turf disease and just when you start to get comfy w/the club pres, and greens chair. in come 2 new ones w/new personalities and want to put their "stamp and vision" on the course,a nightmare I know personally.

When they mowed at dusk it was quite the site with about 25 fairway mowers all on one fairway at a time
Nobody plays for free but at least the food is cheap ;)

I usually wait until the rains stop to put nitrogen on the lawn, unless you want to cut it 2-3 times a week,it does fine on its own,mid june I might do a light fert 10-10-10 or a really natural one like Sea-Blend,ealy spring if you can get a broadleaf weedkiller w/real low npk numbers, early mid june a crabgrass preventer, and early july a insect(grub) treatment,I only put that down ev. 2-3 yrs. All the Scotts ferts have crazy hugh N numbers,The more you put on for ferts, the more dependent the grass becomes. I don't keep my yard to g.course standards, don't waste water, and remove weeds by hand a lot.Have a lot of birds and try to stay away from a real chemmed up lawn.Golf Courses have no choice the turf is cut so low the diease pressure is insane, which means biweekly preventitive disease and insect treatments.I'm just a staff member w/a spray app. license and don't pretend to have all the answers, just like diease in hospitals dev. resistance to antibiotics turf diseases dev resistance to fungicides and a different array of products end up being used, same for insects by the way, they also dev. tolerences to pesticides. I just want a acceptable lawn near my home and let the rest of the yard go,in the west and desert areas lawns are being seen as wasteful w/water becoming scarce.
