I’m in giant 60l bags atm but swapping to a total sip system I’m wondering howmuch soil do I need for a sip ? Feels at times like it’s too much and other times like it’s not enough ,I am drawn between my bed and my pots but feel if the pots wasn’t fabric I’d have better wicking and less dry back

so what size pots would you buy ?
mysetup is a 1300w led system scrog used to be 1200w hps I scrog 8ftx6ft

I’ve used grobuckets. They are made to go in 5gallon buckets. It ends up being probably about 3.5 gallons of growing media (soil). It’s a nice product and is easy to use, i will definitely use mine over and over again. I bought a 10 pack.
I’ve made up a homemade version i’m gonna use outdoor this year they will hold about 18 gallons of soil.

I use these, they're like 11 gallons I think, and the reservoir holds almost 3 gallons (usually takes about 2.75 to fill up from empty):

If you want to go bigger than that I think you'd have to either diy one with storage totes, or use a fabric pot/bed on a bed of perlite

8-12 oz is what I average in the grobucket. Indoor. Gonna try a few with autoflowers outdoors this year. I imagine it’ll probably be around the same though

I use 2 of those Growboxes in a 3 ft x 3 ft tent. I've been shifting towards doing 2 plants per box with a short veg time, like 2 or 3 weeks. I also try to go water-only as much as possible, maybe top-dressing once during flower, hence not running huge plants.

I don't need much to fulfill my own needs, and my focus is more on simplicity than yield. I've been getting around 4-6 quart jars of bud per box, although I could definitely yield more if I put my mind to it. But growing small-to-medium-sized plants and only having to fill the reservoirs every 5-7 days is really nice.

I use the Rubbermaid Brute totes myself. Thick, tough and food grade plastic! I use the 14 nested in the 20 and that gives me a nice large rez even with an inch or two air gap. I show pics of mine when they were being built in the SIP thread if you want to hunt it down. Can't recommend them enough. I was in a space just a tad over 4x4 and I could fit 4 of them in there. 1 plant per or go with 2 for shorter veg times.

I've done the last 2 runs differently but will definitely be going back to them soon. I took the break from them to experiment a bit, not because they didn't work. It's hard to argue if you have troubles with watering they are a great path to look into - just be sure your wicking is working as needed (not too much, not too little).
