i have no choice..... the exhaust goes through the wall accross my bedroom and out the window. The fresh air intake is basically an inline fan blowing in cold (a/c air) from my bedroom. So i think it will work.

My quandry is that you want to use a 1 gallon rez, you will have a million probs with ph fluctuation and ec fluctuation in such a small rez, and unless you are there checking and adjusting like every hour its gonna hurt the plants.

try a 5 gallon tank. at least

ok. i will change that asap. btw, do you have a personal favorite seed bank that you ordered from? Or do you think I can find some one who would be willing to mail me few high end strain seeds.....

I like,....

So you are gonna flower them really small, no veg.?

No.I am gonna let them veg for awhile. I have 3 female plants in the flowering stage. After they are harvested and Ill think about moving them. I hope they are atleast 12 inches by than.

Ms. Ganga,

I have a problem. So today in my flowering room i turned on my 430 watt agro sun lighting system. As it was turning on i stepped on the power strip and turned off the light. Now when I turn it on all I see is a blue light in the bulb. It does not light up. What should I do? it's about 2 months old

I have had this happen before with a ballast when I stepped on the power cord and it pulled out the wall socket, what happened to me i the wire pulled loose from the igniter inside the ballast.

I have also had this happened to me just by pulling the cord out the wall not plugged into a surge protector and a little spark shot as I was pulling it out. I panick big time.

What I would reccomend is Try pluggin it into a different surge protector and just keep trying to turn it on, if it keeps not sparking just un plug it and re plug it in and trying to turn it on.

If that proves to no sucess get into the ballast and check all the wires are connected.

If that is all tidy in there contact the seller of the light, and they will instrcut you what to do to get it fixed as its probally still under warranty.

i did what you said. Still doesnt work. Can the bulb be damaged? In the inside of the bulb I see blue light on the base and tip.

So its trying to spark but not firing right?

It actually sounds more like you did blow the bulb.

Since you see the spark, it would mean logically that the ballast is working fine.

I would bet on the fact its the bulb.

thats what i think too. For now i am thinking about going to home depot and buying a 400 watt hps bulb. Home depot does have them right? i went to homedepot.com and couldnt find it.

They do actually carry generic 400 watters I think.

I know they dont have 600 or 1000's though..

But wait I cant remember if they only stock 400 in MH.

how important is it to have EC meters and TDS meters? I didnt have much money to start this operation so I opted out on buying those meters. I kind of have an idea for what they are used for. But i am not confident about all the details. Can you give me a quick summary on EC meters and TDS meters. And what i should expect to pay for those meters.

Well PH meters are the most important. you can skip buying a $60-$75 meter by getting a $5 PH test kit.

It is highly essential to know the PH of the water you are adding. Most all tap water will register at 7.1 or higher never lower. feeding plants 7.1 or higher and you are locking out nutes.

The EC/TDS meters arent super nessecary right away because you can for the most part just follow reccomendation of the nutes bottles at half strength and be ok.

EC stand for Electrical conductivity, and it is the measure of all things in water that conduct electricity like the nutes.

TDS stand for Total Dissolved Solids and is a Measure of PPM (part per million) and it is also measure used a EC probe.

TDS/EC/PPM are essentially the same thing just with different scales.

These meters are only used to get the amount of nutes down to a science.

They would be essential if you intend to add Bloom Boosters to your generic feeding of nutes.

sure! Females are the keepers, males are worthless. good for you!

As for the ORG question is your veggin area good?

Well I am trying to understand when you say they are in rapid rooter exactly what you mean, cause those are really tiny plugs and they will outgrow them pretty quick.

I would suggest to you to use fox farm Soil, mainly because it is idiot proof, and great for begineers.

Don't worry about the 3" netpots with the RapidRooter plugs and Hydroton. I use exactly the same thing and they will support a very large plant. I've included a picture of a huge stalk from my last grow.

My current grow is a little different. Rather than a few huge plants I decided to SOG this one. These are about 30 days in to flower. The area is about 5'x5' with (2) 20 gallon Rubbermaid aerotubs and (6) 3" netpots in each tub. 1200W of HPS lighting it up.

hey gohydro, so i am growing my veg under CFL tube ONLY. My flowering room is hps 400 watt. Will i get a good yield. I plan to grow the veg plant until 12-14 inches and than transfer over to flowering, 12/12 cycle

Are you running two rooms at once such that you need a veg AND flowering room? If it's only this grow why not veg under 400MH and switch bulbs to HPS when you go to 12/12. This assumes you're using a "switchable" (digital) ballast.

I don't use CFL's except for my cloner so I can't speak to their capacity.

Your yield will depend on a lot of things. If you LST you'll get a lot more but you may not have the room to do that. I can usually get about 6oz under (1) 400w and I DON'T LST....I don't have the room either.
