Hans panel 65W v 80W

Cant really find too much info on the difference other than the wattage... their website says they are the same size with the same amount of diodes.

What are the pro's V con's of the two different models other than power and if they are the same size does this just mean the 80W penetrates better?

My grow tent is 3x3F..

id go for the 80w. I bought the new 65w right after it was released (before the 80w was available), and the results are great, id post pictures if i could figure out how to get them to come out in the post alright and not flipped on their side....

i just finished my first run with the panel, in a 2x2 w 2 autoflowers, first one yielded 25g dry, i just chopped the second one and got 200g wet...im not completely dialed in yet, but the plants absolutely love this panel.

go for the 80w

I have both the new 65 watt model and the new 80 watt panel I'll try to post some pics later when they turn on, from what I can tell between the two of them is a different power supply, he's basically running the 65 watt leds a little harder and they can handle it. If I have to replace a power supply I'll buy the 80watt and run my 65s at MAX power!!! They do appear brighter maybe a little better penetration...
hope this helps...

thanks... at the moment I can only get the 65 so will wait for the 80 to become available

My concern is junction temps/premature depreciation running the higher ma with the same diodes/ cooling system as the 65w. Is the fan size/RPMs the same? How bad will the efficiency losses be? Hans is really not pushing it that much harder, just wounder why he didn't go 80 Watts initially with that cree/osram combo........

Idk maybe supra can chime in, the bin #s are on his website:-)

Also can we get picks of the 80w driver sand grower aka sandy (input/output label)?? Thanks

I have never found the XBD to be the best choice for growing regardless of bin, but the Oslon SSL80 Hyper Red 3T is top notch if run cool. I will check into it more and try to estimate efficiency of the new lamp 65W vs 80W

Ooops, I was supposed to do it some time ago, wasnt I? Have forgot, must have been baked sorry.
Cant find the cam but here is the info:

Model SA 80 850
INPUT AC 170-250 V 30/60Hz 0.56-0.24 A
OUTPUT DC 60-94 V 850 mA 80W
These are the same specs I have on my 80w

the power supply is pushing slightly more amps to each led (granted there the same leds as the 65 watt panel but they can handle it , somthing like .2 amps harder(just a guess). Took pic's of the 2 panels unfortunately with my Iphone you cannot distinguish which is the 80 vs. the 60 at least not from the photo's to the naked eye you can barely see a difference. As far as the fan is concerned it looks the same but I haven't really looked at part numbers just kinda held one up to the other and said yup they look the same.

If the 65 is being pushed harder I assume it would mean less longevity?

Thanks Supra!!!........yeah the oslons are the star of this panel, if he kept the xp-e/xt-e s the price would have NOT been pretty for 65w:P xbd are just to "enough" to balance the spectra.

yeah I assume so....not sure..........BUT I remember there was a member here that asked Hans if he could just swap his drivers and Hans said yes, but it might cause premature failure of the board(warranty loss). Maybe the 80w has a thicker mcpcb???? IDK

If you have the 65w cree/osram(V3) model I would definitely make sure it's the same design throughout before swapping drivers....

Change to a driver that pushes the unit less?

Im not that technical so will probably just keep it the way it is but would like to get a few years good use out of it to make it worth while...

Just go for the 65 watt then if the difference is only a driver. Add some Cree house hold home depot a19 globes.

I just got the 80 watt about a week ago, Hans claims 15% more yield with the 80(I think he said that). So far I am impressed. Hopefully 3 months from now I still will be.

One driver runs slightly higher voltage / mA than the other. Each led is running about 2 watts on the 65w and around 2.3 watts for the 80w. Not a big difference and not worth more loot imo. Then again its only $15 . Its not going to make a big difference in longevity.

Yeah I agree with this..........get the cooler running panel with higher lm/per watt temps??......add warm white cree bulbs if needed.........remember it has a flat heatsink, that fan ever fails ==no bueno
