Where did I go wrong?

My only four seeds died and I'm trying to firgure out why. Someone said germinate them so I did. Two cracked but they didn't progress beyond that, so within a day so I planted them.

Someone else said to the stay away from miracle grow so I bought this generic potting soil. I just noticed the ingredience. If you don't mind, read through the comments between the pictures and tell me what you think went wrong...

The soil was constantly drying up so I thought I had the too close to lights.

Here was the humidity and temerature

I have three fans, one drawing air, another drawing it out and a larger fan to move the air. I also have an exahust port in the bottom of the unit. Could this be what was drying out the soil so fast???

First, the fans...

The lower exhaust port

They still weren't growing so I tried adding this:

Here's the stats of the worm poo spray:

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to send me a handful of bag seed???? I'd pay you for them of course! Please, let me know as soon as possible...

Thanks

Hey man don't use ferts right now, way to young. Where did you get the seeds, they could have been dead already. I think your soil has to much bark. I use miracle grow organic mix with bone mill, and perlite. Get some soil mixes reciepes. Im sure there are some on the grow faq. Also go to your book store in the garden section. They have plenty of marijuana growing books.

hey i think the seeds might have been bad from the start, and also you should saty away from the tin foil. it gives too much heat and not enough reflection

when you germinate them you really should wait untill you see the root pop out about a quarter inch to 3/4 or more. I usually go between thoes first two. I think your seeds were bad. try again man.

Viable seeds have enough "nutrients" built right into them and need nothing from you other than a warm safe place to grow. They don't even need much light ... not anywhere near what you are using. You can germinate seeds in a 50/50 mix of Perlite and Vermiculite. Just put the mix into a styrofoam cup and put the seed in no more than 1/4 inch and gently cover with some Perlite. Push a pencil through several places near the bottom of the cups for drainage, don't over water ... and you are on your way. Transplant, with the Perlite/Vermiculite into your soil mix after you have several sets of leaves. Give them a little ... and I mean a LITTLE SuperThrive at that point. After that, use fertilizers sparingly.

Good luck ...

did you let the seed crack ?
when planted did you plant with tail pointing down?
did you give the sprout enough time to pop the soil?

dont give any nutes for the first 4 weeks
if your soil is dry then water it..if it is drying out everyday..then water everyday or put into a bigger pot.......also...you want to be able to raise and lower your lights...with cfls you want the light to be right on the plant..cfls just dont have the power to do any good that far from the plant......

that soil is brutal, Miracle Grow would be better.

what is your pH?

and i cant argue that the seeds might have been worthless.... and no nutes for the beginning.

and finally, this isnt a selling forum... not sure but i think you can get in some trouble with the mods for that.

I got the four seeds from a ten dollar mini-bag of smoke. Yeah, I was trying to stay away from Miracle Grow soils (so many say it's bad) so I bought this 40lb bag of "soil." Afterwards I saw the pine bark and thought, "Way too acidic." I think that's what killed them. Not sure though.... Will follow advice though... thanks.. Now I just need some more seeds...

I agree, but that's actually an emergency blanket and foil tape, not tin foil. No one had any Mylar, so I had to settle for this. Sucks I know, but it's the best I could do at the time.

Two of the seeds didn't crack at all. The other two did and the roots peaked out slightly from the seed. The problem was, two days later, the roots haden't come out any furthur at all. So I panicked and put them all in this shitty soil. Then when I went to water them the next day, the soil was bone dry, (I mean dry as a parched desert). It was one solid, hardened clump of clay right to the bottom of each cup. I still don't understand how they dried out so fast.

Here's the seeds and some of the cups (before they were fully dried out):

Glad to hear the temps look good, but what do you mean by, "dont feed till like 2 -3rd node of real fans"? Sorry, I guess I don't know the lingo...Can you explain?

Much appreciated!:joint:

yeah dude the bark let 2 much air in and made the soil dry out fast. for a better setup you should get some cool white cfl's (blue spectrum) for veg. also don't skimp on soil buy some good stuff cuz that's gonna be what the plant is in for it's whole life. think of the plant as a person it needs food water and a good area to grow in. you wouldn't put yourself in a shitty old cheep house so why would you put a plant in bad soil... (not meaning to sound nasty) but i had to realize this 2 i used to try to grow with cheep suplies and it got me dirt bud so read as much as you can and try to make the best home you can for your plants. it may have been the seed but that soil didn't help any, get some good soil and give it another try.. it's all trial and error and man you got a awesome setup other then that you'll definetly be able to get great bud from it. just get a few blue spectrum cfl's because the red ones tend to make your plant strech out more. aslo wait until your plant has a few leaf sets before you start to add nutes to the water ok man happy growing... P.S i think 2 of those seeds were premature any ways or is that just the angle of the light?

My PH meter is on route to me via mail. I would guess that it is too acidic. Thanks for confirming the nasty nature of the soil I purchaced.

Thanks also for the "heads up" on the selling thing. I must have missed that. Does begging and pleading for help count???:grin::grin::grin:

Thanks,
