If hes a chef most likely he gets high. Id talk with him about it...offer him some weed lol
I cook for a living. My first chef got high, and still calls me for weed....The current executive chef I work under lets me smoke on the clock, and couldn't care less if you smoke weed...

We openly talk about doing drugs in the kitchen...at least my kitchen.

BUT, that doesn't mean the OP wants his chef neighbor to know he grows weed...Always better to be safe than sorry, right? I'm pretty sure my neighbors grow, but I've never talked about it with them...I just know their mini split condenser runs on a set schedule, and sometimes that happens to be when it's 40 degrees out at 4 AM.

How much product do you want to grow?

What kind of space do you want to use?

What is your budget?

An approprieatly powered Ozone Generator would kill odors, so no worries there.

The answer is yes. Yes you can.

My words of wisdom are, carbon filter, keep the noise down and don't use too much space.
I would also say the cap on watts you could safely pull would be around 3000w, so what I'm saying is you couod do something worthwhile. I wouldn't worry about the neighbor, just act like a normal personwhatever that is

And I'm not saying 3k watts on one breaker, just total usage before things start to be too big for such a location.

IM not sure how you would know how many amps his box can handle.... most likely in the duplex it will be a box that CAN NOT handle that kind of amps if anything. they are usually the minimal. My huge house when I moved in had the minimal 110 set up. I had an electrician come out and rewire for 220 so I could run my 2-1000w that really equal 2500w. Check the amps on all your equipment that you will be getting to see if you can run it all on that box. Maxing out breakers is not good at all.

From my experience as a chef, i would say that chefs are like any other people, to a degree. some do get high, some don't. I'd be inclined to think that there is a slightly higher number who do, than don't, purely for the prejudice reason of most if not all chefs i've worked with, are not univeristy graduates, do not come from rich backgrounds, but rather they come from the backgrounds where cannabis is common place.

And yes, you can certainly grow some plants in a duplex. Just don't go thinking that means you can grow 20 in the back room. Keep it small and keep it personal :) That'll always be my advice in rented property. If you rent a property, and cannot hide your plants or grow for a day, then you're fucked, because the landlord will let you know he's coming over one day for an inspection and there's little you can do about it.

All you need is a cupboard of say about 4' x 4' x 8' and either use this and paint Matt White, or get a Grow Tent to go inside, maybe a 60 x 60 x 140cm or 80 x 80 x 160cm between £40 - £70 on FleaBay, and depending on How many You want to Grow either a 200w Giant CFL 6400K for veg or maybe a Dual 200w CFL these kick out about 10,000L Carbon Filter and inline Fan for a small 4" job be about £40-50 and don't forget you can get them Big Ass Ono Blocks(for masking smell a little) and like TipTopToker says think about Landlords, Gas, Electric...anybody that would have to enter your Home, Tis My Biggest worry!! slowly but surely My Grows are becoming more Stealthy....

Hope You sort..? remember just plan ahead - Expect the unexpected....

It's a lot of work but you can do it no problem. Might take a lot of bull shitting on your end.

I live in a rental where my land lords are out of state. But they put the house on the market. Grow is in the garage and I haven't been able to flower recently because I'm about to move. But I got away with not showing the garage during realtor showings because of my "vicious" (sweetest dogs ever, but great guard dogs too) pitbulls get put in there and doors locked. No one cares to enter, they ask to I say no they aren't friendly with strangers.
Typically showings etc they want the tennant gone for. I simply told the realtor up front I'm not leaving my home to accommodate their showings. "My uncle's a lawyer and he says never to allow a land Lord or realtor showing without my presence. Something about legal ramifications in court" this has worked great for me, best bluff ever.

Eventually I had to show the garage bc someone was gonna buy the house. Growing in a 4x4 tent scrog. Check out the pix to see how I hid it all within ny 24 hr notice.
You could do the exact same if you get a 4x4. Scrog early so you're at less then half the tent. Break it down to half way, reattach top of tent, tie scrog to the tents roof, then close it and cover with a tarp. They're gonna check the home not search thru your possessions. Sorry for the length of all this.

This seems like dangerous advice to be giving a new grower in a place where growing is not legal.

It CAN be done, but there is alot of factors to consider . Is your hydro all inclusive, because if so any landlord will notice spikes in hydro costs that may raise concern. a Similar thing happened to me not taking into affect the amount of central air I was using to cool my rooms. Best bet is to Scope out your yard space and ashtray. If you see a bong or a pack of rolling papers he would most likely be down, but then again is he your landlord?
