Looks fine, but the soil is really wet :P leave her be for a few days, let the dirt dry up a bit. I usually water my solo cups when I can stick a finger in the dirt and have it come back mostly dry. or only *very slightly* moist.

Well, that depends on the area you'll be growing in. How big of an area are you going to use? What size and type of light do you have?

You wont need nutrients for a while. Im still afraid of burning my plants, so I do not add nutrients until my girl has about four 'nodes' or sets of leaves. That is also the point that I usually take her out of the solo cup and transplant into a 5gallon container. Once I hit that point I start at quarter, or half strength mix on my nutrients and work up from there. I feed with nutrients, then I feed with plain water, nutes, water, so on and so forth.

Also, keep in mind that once you swap your lights to the 12/12 schedule its not uncommon for plants to double in size by the time they are ready for harvest. So, take a look at the area you have to grow in - grow her to a little under half that size, and you hopefully shouldnt run into space issues ;)

Also also, if you have not heard of Low Stress Training I would check it out! Really helps to get more out of your plants, and that can be helpful if you are only growing one at a time.

I remember growing in egg cartons and red cups once, a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away... Under 18 inch florescent and was dreaming of lbs of weed... Boy those were the days..

Hes just being funny ;)

You do need nutes. If you dont feed your plant, eventually it will eat everything up thats in the soil and not have what it needs to keep going. I dont have any experience outside Fox Farms, so I suggest Fox Farms - they have worked well for me so far. You can get away with just using Fox Farms Grow Big, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom. When you buy these nutes, they come with a pamphlet that will explain how to mix them. Mine require you mix the nutrients in teaspoon/gallon ratio.

If you're growing indoor, just do like I said and grow them up until you have used a little under half the space you want to grow in. Once you veg them that long just switch to flower, and by the time you're done you should just about fill up your grow area.

What did you mean by Flo Light?

No it didn't work.

The only way I ever got cups to work is using wick method. Even then it was a pain in the ass and yield was extremely small.

Wal-4Mart probably does not have Fox Farms, but hydro stores do. So does the internets :)

As for lights, regular florescent lights probably wont do too well later on. People mainly use them just to start seedlings, or keep clones alive from what I can tell. Can you buy Compact Florescent Bulbs (cfls)? There are several youtube videos that show how to build a cheap CFL light fixture, and they do well for growing. And yes, more light usually means bigger/faster growth.

Also, just so this is clear, do not grow the entire plant in your solo cup xD Once you get a few sets of leaves upgrade to a bigger container. 5gallon should be fine for you.

Like I said bro, I wouldnt worry about 'how many weeks', I would worry about the size of your plant. Just grow them until they fill up half your grow space. Once you get to that point, turn your lights on for 12 hours and off for 12 hours every day. Thats the 12/12 schedule that makes our plants flower.

Growing in a solo cup is tough work, and it limits your plant. Your plants roots are important, and they need room! If you dont give them room, you become 'rootbound', and your plant will stop growing. This is why you move to a bigger pot.

CFL's should get you started just fine. Go to this part of Rollitup for information on CFL and help from the pros ;)

As I said earlier, go simple and buy a three-pack from Fox Farms. You want Grow Big, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom. Those three nutrients will take you from start to finish.

Miracle Grow can be use. It is not ideal for beginners though, because it has nutrients in it that release over time. This makes it hard to judge when to feed and how much. Theres already stuff in the soil, so when you add your nutrients it has an increased chance to burn (ie, possibly kill) your plant. I would suggest you buy a bag of Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil when you get your nutes. If you cant afford it, buy some regular potting soil from wal mart that has no nutrients in it.

Im not sure to be honest ;-) hopefully some other members can chime in on miracle grow stuff.

Other than your soil and nutrients... you need the following.

One 3 or 5 gallon pot per plant.

lights. Check the cfl forum I linked.

a fan. Oscillating one if possible. Constant direct fanning will cause your leaves to dry out. Leaves
will taco or claw out.

Simple timer. Plug your light into the timer and set it for 12 hours on and off each day when ready to flower.

If you plan to train you will need other supplies like string and scissors, wire mesh, whatever.
