nope, you'll need exhaust.

if the rest of the unit is climate controlled, you can pump some off the cool air into your space, either passively or even forced, if you create enough negative pressure from an exhaust system pulling old, hot air out of your space. that depends on a pretty good fan though, which you'll likely want to dampen the sound of based on where you're living now.

hit me up sometime and i'll take a look at the space.
Uncle buck is great at cheapo setups in uncontrolled spaces!!

Try not to cry too much at the grows I am capable of.

How many pounds do you think my setup will get?

45 Watt Incandescent.

Lookin good so far. I think I might get a candle for extra poundage and for the CO2.

I stacked some books and boxes up to get closer to the light, this is week 4.

And I'm back. :) Chicago is....windy.

No/yes. Of course. All you have to do is exhaust the heat. Figure out, like NASA does, how to eject heat from the enclosure.

I have one in my bathroom. It is in virtual window, and the back is in an insulated box I made out of construction foam board and tape/nailed together.

It is the virtual outside for the back and the hot exchanger back there.

That box has a suction fan on top and that runs the heat out through a 6 inch exhaust pipe.
do you have schematics for that? or real pics? or a link i can build from?

EDIT: or something i can buy and adjust for my needs?

can anyone tell me an easy way to build a plenum space ie virtual window for the air conditioner..i'm a girl so no fancy stuff..box and tape..staples if necessary:wink:
Cardboard box the size of the back of the AC. 8" flexible ducting. Take box and duct tape to exhaust end of AC unit, cut 8" hole in opposite end, tape the flexible ducting to hole, take duct to nearest window and figure it out from there. No staples needed. Super cheap, Good for 1 grow.

Buy a used AC unit for $40 from the pawn shop. 8,000-10,000 BTU for a each 200 Sq Feet of space.

I'd double that, Sky.

Those estimates are for 2-3 adults playing quietly. :)

In a regular hall bath 45 sq feet I have 9000 btu
Shudder got 12 or 18k

And the back of an ac has to be keep below 120F or the front side won't cool well

I just got 2 inch foam board

okay..lemme explain a few things:

1. i'm a girl
2. not STEM (science technology engineering and mathematics)
3. i'm a girl
4. i can't compartmentalize like a man
5. everything has to be explained to me in detail.."got a 2" foam board"..doesn't mean anything to me..i do very well with detailed instructions.

example:

girl question: how long do you keep dome lid on clones?
boy answer: as long as you need.
answer needed: lid provides blank, blank and blank so typically until you start to see roots.

you don't know how many successful male growers on this site i've asked this question of and received virtually the same answer:wall:

ya feel me?

thank you..but i don't have an exhaust window..i do have a closet with hookup for W/D which they don't allow because there is no exhaust..there is however, drain for where the water would go (you can see it on the right next to H/C water supply).

also, i want to get a flood table to fit right over the commode (with legs) in that corner maybe 3x5?

i have to measure the room.

EDIT: bathroom is right in the middle of the apartment.

18k btu portable. adapt up to 6" flex hose from 5" very close to unit, with 6" to 5" reducer. this drops your resistance, ie decreases your Reynolds Number (showing off). run your 6" flex to nearest window, in the straightest possible line. cheap 6" booster fan for every 20" of run.
that's a small space; its gonna wanna heat up. ceramic tile in BR?
