New to carbon filters

never really had to worry about odor control before, but i'm tired of my grow stinking up half the block. it's a concern from a security standpoint.

i have a 10' x 16' x 6' room with 4400 watts in it.

this pic is old and only shows 3 of the 11 lights. i'll be sheetrocking and sealing the whole thing as well as adding a 12k BTU mini split. but it will still be staying in a garage, which can get pretty hot in the summer and a little cold in the winter.

i've been looking at carbon filter/fan combos on htgsupply and am a little confused.

i plan on putting the fan/filter on the opposite side of the grow room from the mini split and oscillating fan, on top of the ceiling of the grow room. this means it will basically just recirculate the air it is exhausting from the grow room back into the garage.

these things have different suggested CFMs for exhausting versus recirculating. so would my planned setup count as exhausting or recirculating?

should i just modify my plan and run a duct to exhaust all the air into a separate room?

also looking for advice on how much CFM i'll need based on experience. the room is 960 cubic feet with 4400 watts and 12,000 BTUs of AC (or heat as needed in winter). i was just gonna go with the biggest filter/fan that htgsupply sells for the safety of overkill, but not a fan of spending more than i have to if it's not necessary.

I have a 12x48 phat filter with a 12" vortex scrubbing a 21 x 16 room and it kinda helps.

Still have to pull negative pressure and exhaust through a 12" inline ozone generator.

Carbon filtration is helpful but if growing the super dank it's never enough.

As per Snaps at this level I'd seek a contractor with ventilation experience of industrial filtering ..the odd 600w/1kw grow with 10 -20 plants is easy but to confine it to such a enclosed location is bucks baby ..big bucks, besides carbon filtering don't work so well in high humid ares like raining or frost!

I like to get the largest carbon filter I can grab and usually end up using less than the advertised cfm.

I'm not a fan of HTG's products.

I use phresh and phat filters. But phat are cheaper, and seem to work better.

my shit is not super dank, but the electrician smelled it from 3 houses away at harvest time. i can personally smell it as soon as i pull into the drive, and i have a shitty sense of smell and am desensitized to weed.

i thought the $450, 12x48 fan/filter combo i was looking at would be enough to reduce the stank to almost nothing.

i was gonna put a second fan/filter in my drying and trimming room too if that's a good idea.

give me whatever else you got.

i'm lucky that the denver area is very arid, low humidity. so humidity should be easy on the filter here. thank goodness.

thank you, will take that into consideration.

budget is not too much of an issue for a filter, but i can't afford to do much else, like snaps' inline ozone generator.

between sheetrock, lumber and other supplies to seal it, plus a mini split, i am looking at about $800 leftover for a fan/filter combo.

You could go by Grow Big, see if they have a used 14" blower, then spend whats left on a Phat 14x48.

what i seem to be hearing from you is that more CFM and bigger filter is best, and will take that into consideration.

It should be cheaper.

Only use ozone inline (inside duct) exhausted outdoors.

You want at least 20 feet of well sealed galvanized duct post ozone generator in order to allow time for the ozone to do it's thing.

If exhausting constantly with negative pressure in the winter it will get chilly.
