Iv just lifted one of my pots to check on weight for watering , and there is about 8" of roots coming out of the drainage holes and going into the drain tray?
simple question:- will they be ok or go rotton?

If they are exposed to air/light, they'll prune themselves.

I'm assuming you're in soil, yes? If so, I'd be transplanting...

They are only there because you have run off standing in your tray. Or else like Spek said they would have dried up and fallen off already.

After you water you should let it drain and remove any standing water to avoid bugs.

But yes Spek is right it's time to transplant.

Thanks , iv put allready put them 15lt soil buckets and iv not had this before, but the water is still in the tray,

if i trim them and remove all the run off water , will they be ok , because i don't really have the space to repot them?

Yes and yes.

You can prune them (given that you're not growing in solo cups and 90% of your roots are hanging out the bottom), and you *should* raise up your pots so they are not sitting in standing water.

I wouldn't do this, as there's still risk the soil meeting the standing water and causing root rot. You're best to lift the pots up so that if you do get too much runoff water, you can scoop or towel it out so the bottom of the pots can never stand in the water at all.

Your idea is great if you're running in a hydro mixture though!

Yes and yes.

You can prune them (given that you're not growing in solo cups and 90% of your roots are hanging out the bottom), and you *should* raise up your pots so they are not sitting in standing water.

I use air pots and think they're bloody great. Air
pruning on all sides means the soil is filled with root mass and also means you get bigger plants in smaller containers as they are more efficient. Have a look for them man

yes i got it from marijuana horticulture. its the classic wick system. this is the first time i've tried it but works great. best of both worlds.

Iv just trimmed the roots and put my tray on abit of a tilt , so the water will drain to the side , will that be ok? Iv also burnt my mr.sunshine shrine i had in corner of my room.
