hempy bucket size question

1 gallon hempy bucket
1 week into 12/12 - started showing sex
Strain: Special Kush #1 from Royal Queen Seeds
Lights: 150watt hps/mh

The plant is a good size for my lights; I've topped and LST'd; but I'm afraid 1 gallon container isn't gonna cut it when it starts to bud properly. Do I risk it and make it a pathetic attempt at transplanting to a bigger container? (I'd like to make the most out of what it yields)

From what I have read and been advised 1 gallon hempy is plenty. One member here grows huge plants in 2 liter bottle hempys. Maybe ask this question on the hempy thread under advanced growing techniques. I think it is sufficient though...

How tall is the plant?

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. I'm very happy with the size of my plant and her development so far (no nanners). Basically I was curious if one gallon was enough leg room for the roots when buds start to develop (and if they'll be big enough) but I know it's all up to me whether I want to transplant or not so thank you very much for the positive reinforcement.
She's 9 inches tall. I'm gonna post the same thread in that section. I hope it's not against regulations

It will be golden in that size. The root mass grows different in a hempy set up than in soil. Just make sure when they start really drinking that you never let your rez run dry. Mine are in 5 gallon hempy buckets and i water every 3rd night. Towards the end you might be watering everyday, but the game plan you are sticking with is good to go

Man I can totally understand that. The past few days I've had to feed everyday. Today the res didn't feel completely dry (I judge by weight) but I put in one liter (like 0.3 gallons) and she drank it all :D

One thing that makes it easy for me is when I'm making the Hempy buckets I add the water in (for me, I use 1 gallon or 4 litres) and drill my hole at the waterline. I usually slow water at first in all the plants, let them sit for a joint, then go back and hammer the water into them. That way they get a nice drink and i can go back later in fill till they puke up so I know I'm leaving a full rez when I shut the door on the cabinet.

If you know exactly how much is in the rez to start you can get an idea of how much they are drinking per day if that makes sense

I let my hempy go bone dry before feeding...typically a 2 litre pop bottle can go 2 days, and a 11 litre bucket goes about 5 days
Really? I was alway told to.never let it get dry. I would have thought the water would go a little punky after a few days

as I've been told....when it's watered after being super dry, it will draw in more oxygen ...and a fast pour works better for drawing in the oxygen

also I think there's that slight stress that makes it become glutinous after being starved

from a 2 litre pop bottle perspective (below pic) they drank most of the water in the reserve on the first day and then the next day they consumed every available drop.

Indeed!

ISK you're my hero now lol

These past few days I've been letting it go bone dry judging by weight. if it doesn't feel completely dry I check back in a few hours; if I can't I just fill it up. I also started thinking about the fact that it draws in more oxygen when it's dry that's why I've been doing this. Thank you all for sharing valuable info :D growing is addictive

You are far to humble. So I had to go through your posts. I am very impressed. U got a follow and I would love if you would describe your hempy methods start to finish and include the Lucas formula all in one place. I normally do the standard 5 gallon bucket and GH Flora 3 part and autos. I have good success and my method is really simple but, would love to try that Lucas, your way. Have a great day.

many thanks my friend.....it just so happens that I just germinated 3 auto-fem seeds and will be starting a new thread soon...hope to see you there

I'll be using the basic Lucas formula but not sure yet if I'll use pop bottles or buckets....also will be using a new setup....so could be full of surprizes

What strain was the pic above? And what type of light are you growing under?
