It's exciting indeed, I guess it's a bit like the feeling stock traders get. I don't really trade, but my income is in USD and decide myself when that's converted to euros. It's like sitting in the wrong end of the stadium, when the economic news is bad here in europe and good in the US I foresee better times for me. I know that sounds selfish, but the truth is it's normalizing. I still get less for my dollars than I used to get when I traded them to guilders, we got a shitty deal changing to the euro. The guilder was attached to the german mark, obviously better than sharing with the poor countries in the south. However, since that helps me indirectly, those deserve some credit too. So thank you Obama, keep up the good work, and thank you lazy fuckers in southern europe countries for not doing any work.

Actually I take that last statement back, that's unfair, surely the benefit I have from them is evened out by the high tax rates I pay to finance them.

5% over the past 3 months, 10% over the past 6. Thanks for raise Obama. Reminds me of the good old days when I traded my dollars to guilders.
you mean Thanks EU, for fucking yourself.

the dollar hasnt gone up, the Euro has gone down

it's gone down against gold, the british pound, the japanese yen, the indian rupee, and even the mexican peso.

the euro is "going up" against the russian ruble though, but thats just cuz the ruble is in freefall.

the dollar is actually still pretty flat vs other stable world currencies, which is surprising considering the trillions of Obamabucks being printed.

maybe the keynesians have finally found the elusive secret to making their eternal money machine work.

but i wouldnt bet on it.

Funny how things are always polarized in this forum. It is in fact a combination of the dollar going up and the euro going down. Which is obviously relatively but the 3 month and 6 month graphs are actually very similar to the eur/usd, for, unlike you claim, the gpb, the yen, as well as the swiss franc, and the canadian and australian dollar.

This isn't good news.
A low dollar is good for exports.
And right wingers who like to cry that the sky is falling

All you idiots thanking Obama, its laughable.

The fracked oil that liberals opposed drilling is the ONLY thing propping up the dollar, its a band aid on a bullet wound due to OPEC's quick response.

Chesus it really is a shame youve taken on this nationalistic "Duke-esque" approach again.

The Presidents job is to merited for his genuine accomplishments and lambasted for his failures, why the inclination towards the personality cult now?

Awarding him for things that happened in spite of his position of power is really hollow and history hangs hard on hollow victories.

Most of Obamas policy positions are actually very agreeable to the majority of Americans (and people worldwide), so why do you applaud his terrible execution at the best of times and complete failure to act in the worst of times?

I supported Obama in 08, thought he was Jesus in a suit come to change the world but I've since admitted he's a failure (although his opponents were even bigger failures, but that's a different thread), why can't you?

Since you are talking out your ass as usual.
Why don't you actually look at what Obamas policy has been since he has been in office

how is this Polarized"?

the euro is falling against almost every major currency, while the dollar is pretty flat against most of them.

the puzzlement is the Obamabucks issue.

that the dollar hasnt started slipping is surprising, not because Obama, but because the cartel is printing money like their stock of paper has reached it's Use By Date.

printing shitloads of new fiat currency is just like the romans alloying their silver coinage to increase the number in cirtculation, it inevitably must drive the value down against currencies that arent being debased.

or do you have some other explanation for the mechanisms behind "quantitative easing" versions 1through 4.

keep trying to rationalize why all your racist dog whistles about "obamabucks" (or "uncle sugar", as huckabee termed it) turned out to be false pissing in the wind now that the economy is booming along again.

it's quijotean hilarity at its finest.

no wonder you stock shelves for a living.
