Police are investigating after bag of marijuana was found in the box of a $5 toy purchased at a Brampton, Ont. Target store.

A kindergarten-aged boy and his father went to the Target at Bramalea City Centre, located at 25 Peel Centre Dr., on Wednesday. The boy had been given $5 to spend at the store, his mother said.

The boy picked out an Angry Bird Telepod game, and paid $5.41 for the toy. When he brought it home, he had trouble opening the package, and asked his mom for help.

"I went to hand him everything and noticed something unusual on the couch," Monika Milewska said in an email on Friday.

"Upon further inspection, it looked like marijuana," she said.

She and her husband took the bag to Peel Regional Police, who estimated it contained approximately 85 grams of marijuana.

Milewska said that police went to the Target location and searched the other toy boxes, but didn't find any more drugs. Target replaced the toy for the family.

"That night my son was horrified," she wrote. "He could not sleep on his own and kept asking us questions - why was it in his toy? Who put it there? What was it?"

Milewska said she wanted to warn other parents of what could be hidden in other toy boxes.

"I guess Target lived up to their slogan, 'Expect more, pay less.'"

Buy at toy called Angry Birds and freaking out and making your 5 year old child traumatized is ok?
You can only use the protect the children if it has to do with cannabis.

We don't care that these parents traumatized there child over finding a bag with some green non toxic plant in it aka cannabis. No we would rather blame the drug dealers or cannabis in general!

I agree. I think someone was just looking to sue. I mean who would stash that much weed in a kids toy, in a store for anyone to find? Especially when the parents talk about how traumatic it was for the child. . why would it be traumatizing, All they had to say to the kid was the toy was broken and they had to get him a new one.I call bullshit on these shitty parents.

Maybe they used a shipment of the toys to move their shit and some got left behind. Though I agree.. The kid didn't need to be made aware of what happened.

I was thinking it was a small time public drug deal gone wrong, like a guy sold another guy weed and said hey you can find it the 3rd angry birds box from the top.. then the guy who bought the weed was approaching the angry birds just about to grab his box and there is a kid there holding the box noooooooooo...

Why would anyone sell weed like that? that's just asking for someone to get ripped off, lose their weed or get busted either putting it in the box or taking it out. As far as the smuggling theory, I don't think there's any need for anywhere in canada to import weed. we have a shitty dollar and our weed is good. Our weed gets exported. or at least it used to until the states started to legalize.
