What a nice surprise it was the first time I travelled to Europe. There were a lot more boobies on tv than there are here. It was pretty cool to be watching a soap commercial and see a nice pair of healthy boobies without the slightest bit of self consciousness about it. People there didn't see it as a big deal and got little, if any, sexual thrill out of it - which is a bit regrettable IMHO.
I'm a supporter of relaxed standards of nudity here in the States. It shouldn't be as big of a deal as it is. But it is - still. There are very few American television channels that are both boobie friendly and play commercials. Typically it is one or the other. Why is this? Are there laws governing this sort of thing or are sponsors not willing to put their product in proximity to a nice pair? They certainly aren't shy about being next to a nice violence scene.
I always figured that things would loosen up here but they are lagging behind my expectations. But then my formative years were the early 1970s. I figured that I would have been in that sweet spot where seeing boobies would still be a thrill and that women would be walking around casually topless. By the time this happens I will be a leering old man. Oh well. Vive les boobs.
